DDR @ PPPP

I've been reading around the forums a lot lately, and finding that a VERY large portion of this community shares an obsession with DDR (Dance Dance Revolution for those who don't know).

Anyway, here an idea, let me know what everyone thinks of it. Maybe for some coaster event, (I was thinking Knoebel's Pheonix Phall Phunfest, since they have a DDRMAX 6th Mix machine there), we could set up a little mini tournament. If interest is strong, I'll contact Knoebel's and see if I can 'officially' work it into their schedule.

---UPDATE---

An e-mail has been sent to Knoebels regarding the contest. I'll let everyone know if the event will happen or not. If it does, we will probably need a few people to help set up the event (I have documents on how, don't worry), also, I'll need a few judges. Of course, I'll take volunteers off of this site first!

Cool, but I wouldn't let Robb and Elissa join, then the competition would be over..............LoL!

Just be glad I'm not going to PPP. No one would stand a chance against my skills. Can anyone else here pass Max300 with an A on Heavy mode? Didn't think so.

Why can't they upgrade to a 7th? So much better! Plus, 7th has MaxX Unlimited, which is even harder than Max300, yet I can still pass Unlimited with a B. 333 BPM of evil.

Why does DDR bring out the extreme braggart in everyone?

I wish I could be there - I'd play, but I'd be the laughingstock, I'm lucky if I can pass a 6-footer on basic. Maybe next year I'll be better.

Coaster Sam, PPP is Phoenix Phall PhunPhest, the other BIG park-sponsored event....(SRM being the "main" one)....Knoebels Grove in Elysburg PA....

Why are the best coasters in the hardest-to-find locations....oh well....

All you DDR hot shots - I officially challenge you to show up at the Mitsuwa Marketplace the next time you are in the Chicagoland area to get an official beat down from a bunch of 11 year old Japanese kids. I have spent hours just watching these kids, it's the real deal.

gator - If they weren't so off the beaten path would we love them so much? Part of the charm for me.

Is is October yet?

Still waiting for a reply from Knoebels. Those who will be attending the event, if you have any interest in helping me out, email me. Even if I can't officially work it into the schedule, I assume we can still post a meeting time just to see eachothers skills!
i just purchased a 3rd mix machine from the internet i can't wait to get it in four weeks shipping was a ***** i got it for $3000

Ok, Knoebels emailed me back, apparently they don't actually own the arcade there, its privately owned, however they dont seem to have a problem working it into the schedule if its ok with the game owners... here's the message:

Thank you for your interest in Knoebels and our website!

Thank you for the suggestion, we will pass it along to the game owners (Knoebels does not own the games in the video arcade). We will probably not have a definite answer until mid-September.

Knoebels

I assume, if they had a problem, they wouldn't pass it along, correct? Well I guess mid-September we'll have a definite answer .

Don't be stupid. Come play in NorCal before you make an uneducated statement like that. It's nothing special here to see someone AA Maxx Unlimited and get Kakumei.

I've personally passed MAX300 with a AA. Constantly. You're nothing special. Always remember that =)

Hehe... you both sound really good, I do hear California has the best players though! If the competition works out well at Knoebel's I'll give my information to people who want to try to set up a competition at an event closer to them :)

Also, just try not to turn this thread into a place to argue about skills, prove them to eachother at the Phunfest! :) In all seriousness, I do want to keep this thread up to keep others informed about the competition, so try not to get too out of hand, thanks!

Participants are starting to apply off of RRC... if you have any intention of playing or helping please let me know... a few things to keep in mind when applying-

Afraid you won't do well? Big deal! PPP has always been about fun, just as DDR has always been about fun!

One of the traditions at PPP is to wear a costume... why not wear one to this competition to? What would be more entertaining than watching Santa Clause dance? Perhaps a grim reaper? A nurse? Lets find out!

The more applicants and helpers I get, the funner this years PPP will be, so keep the emails/replies coming!

Chris, I might get out to PPPP this year. It's all 'moosh's fault! He actually has me looking into prices online for tix. Oh my Lord............:)

The truth is in the advertising

Just because Knoebels may not sponser it doesn't mean you can't round up a bunch of people to have your own competition. I don't see what Playland would care what you do as long as your putting money into the machines.

I'd personally love to have a Flyers competition att PPP. The best Flyer wins. The winner gets to be called the Flyer Ace all next season. :) Who's up for this?

Well yeah, coasterpunk, you're right, if the park says they won't work it into the schedule, I'll still try to gather people to have a good time. However, if the park and arcade like the idea, there may be a way to issue a prize to the winner (maybe something from the memorabilia trading place they have set up ). Or perhaps I can just make certificates and make lots of winners i.e.- 'Funniest Routine' 'Best Use of Costume'... that type of thing...

And nasai, and all those wondering whether or not to go to the Phunfest, trust me, you'll love it! Everyone there is in costume, riding the amazing Phoenix, and hopefully dancing this year The events a blast, and would reccomend it to any enthusiast in search of thrills and a good laugh.

...edit... Didn't see your flyer comment coasterpunk! I'm in for any form of competition we can come up with, we're only making a great event funner. Heh, it's so funny watching people in clown suits and dressed as death fly those thing :)... By the way does anyone know if Knoebel's increased the speed back to how it used to be on the Flyers?
