DCA and KBF 12/31-1/2

Associated parks:
None

I just got back from Southern California. I went to DLR (just into California Adventure) and KBF. This was the first time I've been to DCA and the whole park is amazing. I rode California Screamin 3 or 4 times, can't remember and Grizzly River Run twice at around 6 PM, so we were soaking and cold! We had to go on it late because it was closed when we got there, and since this was our only day their we HAD to go on it. Although we came of cold and wet, this water ride is awesome and kicks all other raft rides out of the water. The drops on Grizzly River Run are fun and scary at times...especially the first time on it. We also went on Soaring Over California once, and that is the most impressive flat ride ever! It’s so unique and the machines of the ride are fascinating, I wish I could see it operate with the lights on. We only spent a few hours there and I wish we staid longer.

California Screamin' - 7 (After Xcel, launch could be better and the music louder since you can hardly hear it, but the length of the ride is great)
Soaring over Cal - 10 (So much technology it amazes me!)
Grizzly River Run - 9 (Could be a little longer and the "block gates" are annoying, but the best water ride ever!)

The next day we went to KBF and rode Xcelerator 7 times, it is now my number 1 coaster. The launch is so intense I couldn't really breathe for those 2.3 seconds...I just love it! The air time is awesome and it truly gives you some thrills. This is the first coaster that I have never raised my hands up on. We also rode Supreme Scream twice and that is the best free fall tower I've been on. The view is awesome, but you don't stay up there for long and the bounces are smaller than they could be. GhostRider was OK, but it was a little rough. Actually it hurt my back, but oh well it's still a great coaster.

Xcel - 10 (The most intense launched coaster I've ever been on!)
SS- 7 (Great first drop, but bounces are too small than what they use to be.)
GhostRider- 6.5 (Fast, fun and long. But rough.)

On Friday we were meant to go to SFMM, but it rained and we decided to just go home.

I did go on more rides at DCA and KBF but those are just the highlights of the parks. But I also missed a lot at both parks due to a lack of time, but I'll try to get back there during summer. Also I just added a KBF photo gallery to my site, and soon a DCA. But I also added two new videos: Xcelerator and California Screamin' (with POV footage). So check them out at my site: http://www.coastersimulators.com

I don't personally feel Xcelerator is a 10, more like a 7.5 and GhostRider more like a 9.5.

GhostRider's ferocity can be felt after awhile if not closed for rehab - through the violent thrashing and "roughness" as you described it. The ride's nature causes it to tear itself apart and in order to keep the ride running in top shape, an annual 2-week rehab occurs.

And California Screamin's launch could be better? It's a Disney park for crying out loud. 0-55 in about 4 seconds is as much as intensity as a family with little children can take.

Sorry but I think Xcel is much better than GhostRider, GhostRider was great when it first opened but now it just plain rough and un-fun.

Hmm, wow so DCA is a Disney Park? Really...? *rolls eyes* Well there is a reason I put:

After Xcel, launch could be better

When I first went on it, it was great but after Xcel it could feel weak...plus there are other reason I don't like it as much...oh and it's really 0-55 in 5 seconds... *** Edited 1/5/2004 1:38:11 AM UTC by Xbox4414***

When I rode GhostRider it was definitly not rough enough to cause a bad ride experience, I agree with the 9.5, my fav. woddie. :-) As for Xcellorator it was also awesome, but not quite a 10, I'd give it an 8.5, definitly one of the best launched coasters out there.
