Dateline NBC

Did anyone else catch the Dateline NBC spot on coasters? It aired around 9:50 EST. They did a little 5 min. feature in which they talked about Hypersonic:XLC, Superman:Ultimate Escape, and Millennium Force. They also featured Perilous Plunge. It was interesing, and it had some good footage of the coasters. It had some coaster nut guy giving on-ride commentary while on Superman at SFWOA. Just wondering what you all thought of it...

I did. I even made a topic on here about it right before it aired. I deleted it once it was off, no point in telling old news! (not saying this is old news, I was telling it was one, your asking who saw it)

Next up: Stupid human tricks! Followed by: Stupid pet tricks!
Why can that never happen?
When they said that this summer the worlds tallest suspended coaster is opening, were they reffering to Deja Vu?
Well, back to the original post, I thought it was a well done segment. A little pre-quil for the three shows set to air tomorrow on the Discovery Channel. In my opinion, the best Millennium Force footage aired at once in 5 minutes! This will most likely change by tomorrow with the airing of Top Ten Coasters and Exreme Rides 2001. The footage still makes me think that on Hypersonic, there should be more vertical track coming down and less going up.
It's just about to come on here. 6 minutes and counting. I just saw a commercial for it. Can't wait.
It's on at 8!
I saw it. It was short. I hate it when they show the people riding the coasters instead of the track itself.

Colorado Avalanche 1-0. Go Avs!

Oops. You're right. It's on at 8 here. It's only 7:03 here.

Deja Vu - Think you've experienced it before...think again!

X - Xperience the Xtreme - It breaks all the rules!
i caught the last 2-3 min. of the dateline thingy. it maid me even more excited to ride V2 @ SFGAm this summer. now that i think about it, that sounds right FloridaCoasterRider (that the worlds tallest suspended coaster will be Deja Vu)... or wait a sec... doesn't V2 count as a suspended coaster??? it is taller than deja Vu.
I saw it and it was pretty good. I especially liked the footage of S:UE. Even though I rode it, it was weird seeing the end of the twist without any surrounding supports.

Well...I saw it too. It was great. Superman: The Escape looks great, so I wanna ride V2! I agree, I wish HS:XLC did go Straight Down more, but its still good. Millennium Force looks great just like the Badnitrus POV!

Can't wait till tomorrow, PKD and Coaster Shows!

Favorite Coaster: HyperSonic XLC!
Was the segment possitive about these rides and not saying they'll give you brain damage or anything?
Whew! I just caught it! Thank you PST

Hmm... Déjà Vu is 196 ft tall, and how tall is V2? 180' I believe; therefore, I think they were talking about Déjà Vu! :)

The Jet Coaster ROARS!
I saw the dateline NBC thrill rides portion. I liked the on-ride footage of all of the coasters. I also thought it was cool that they showed Perilous Plunge!! ON-Ride shots from that ride are hard to find, so it was nice to see them feature it. As a Knotts employee, I love to see the farm get recognition from time to time, because sometimes it seems overshadowed by SFMM and Disneyland. Go Perilous Plunge. Of course, it might be better if it were open now. The lift chain is broken! I sure hope they fix it before to long. ANyway, the segment on thrill rides was cool. I also liked the POV on Hypersonic.

Don't forget about Thrills Chills and Spills tomorrow-------------
Hypersonic XLC is # 1
It was a really good segment. I have to thank my dad for inadvertantly taping it. He really just wanted to watch Dateline. I'm alwayws trying to get him to watch extreme ride shows, and now I think he'll be forced to since it is on during his show. :) Great job NBC!

what's better, going to my memorial day barbeque, or thrills chills and spills?

Thrills chills and spills! (duh)

Cyberbuzz, yes the segment was positive. It was, basically, look at these new rides, they are extreme. People love the thrill and parks keep building more of these rides.

It was a great 5 minute teaser for Discover channel tonight (they used footage and credited the discover channel).
