Dark clouds still linger over Conneaut Lake

Conneaut Lake Park is still gasping for air as it struggles to secure a $350,000 loan to reopen. Meanwhile, the 20 fulltime staff members have been laid-off.

This is simply too bad, as the Blue Streak is a great wooden coaster - not to mention that the Toboggan coaster looked interesting as well. Plus, with a classic dark ride, a unique indoor scrambler, and scenic train ride, plus reasonable prices, this park made for an enjoyable day trip, and moreover, the hotel looked fascinating, as well.

I would like to see the park reopen with that abandoned zoo section as either walk through attraction or even a boat or coaster ride that could be adventure/jungle themed.*** This post was edited by Lord Zar the Pumpkin King 2/18/2003 10:16:33 AM ***

They actually had a "Jungle Cruise" at one time, that you entered between the Blue Streak and the Carousel.

I sure do miss the Idora Wiildcat & Jackrabbit.

Yeah, that became the entry for the zoo in 1998 I guess. Its boarded up now but is a great place for pictures of the Blue Streak and Little Dipper.

Confirmed, Lesourdsville Lake opening for 2003 details soon at Lesourdsville.com

Blue Streak was absolutely fantastic last year with the old (new?) trains.. I'm really going to miss it if it doesn't open :(

The park was beginning to make a comeback.. There were crowds there on a few days, and decent waits on weekends. I actually waited 10 minutes one Thursday to ride Blue Streak

Don't count the park out just yet...

The judge ruled this afternoon and I believe Gary Harris is out completely. Full details should be in the Erie Times tomorrow. The park should be able to secure funding now. Keep your fingers crossed.

That is GREAT news!
