Dania Beach Hurricane/Boomers

I'm with Lord Gonchar in the camp that you're all reading too much into this pricing strategy. It's actually pretty darn good.

If places like Six Flags and Universal Orlando can offer an annual pass for less than a 2-day ticket (okay, not the premium pass at Universal -- unless you're talking the 2-year $149 promos for the premium passes) why are you shocked to see a pay-per-ride coaster offer a buffet for just shy of the second ride price?

It's the perfect upsell. If there was no $10 all-day pass how many guests do you think would go for the 1 ride at $5.95 and call it a day? Plenty. Some might not even go for it at all. You're talking about a ride with available capacity -- all the time -- save for some weekend nights.

The coaster is run apart from Boomers and you can bet that they have tested out the various pricing models to see which one makes the most money.

As an aside, if you are going, sign up for the Boomers email list as the FEC seems to be sending out a freebie coupon every month (last month it was free mini golf, this month it's one free attraction -- DBH not included).
