Dania Beach Hurricane question?

It is my understanding, unless things have changed, that Magic Mountain was only open on the weekends during a part of the winter.

Of the now sixteen coasters at Cedar Point, only 2 of them are B&M. Raptor and Mantis.

2 are for kiddies (Jr. Gemini and Woodstock's Express)

4 are "family coasters" (Iron Dragon, Wildcat, Disaster Transport, Cedar Creek Mine Ride)

2 are minor thrill coasters (Blue Streak, Corkscrew)

2 are median thrill coasters (Wicked Twister, Gemini)

4 are major thrill coasters (Magnum, Mean Streak, Raptor, Mantis)

2 are out of this world coasters (Millennium Force, Dragster)

I wouldn't necessarily say that they are aiming strictly for the thrill. In addition, they also have:

2 drop rides (Power Tower and Demon Drop), 3 major water rides (White Water Landing, Snake River Falls, Thunder Canyon) and a host of other rides (2 car rides, lots of "flat" rides and spin & pukes). They have a water park, lots of lives shows and live entertainers, a host of midway games, the train, they sky ride, the sky tower, 4 resort hotels, 1 campground with cabins, at least 8 sit down restaurants, etc. Not too mention Challenge Park with putt-putt golf, go karts and a Skycoaster.

I think I have read somwhere that the Magic Kindom draws 15-20 million guests a year. That averages to about 41,000-54,000 guests per day. Cedar Point did 3.25 million guests last season which is approximately 25,390 guests per day. That is about 16,000-30,000 less guests per day. Sounds daunting until you realize that Orlando, Florida is the biggest tourist destination in the world and Sandusky, Ohio is..well...not. Not too mention that Mickey Mouse is the most recognizable face in the world.

I'd like to see a Cedar Point plopped down right in the middle of Orlando and see what it could do.

....droooooollllll........K3wl......rool....awesome! FL really *does* need a thrill park.

IOA is nice but with only 2 coasters my fix doesn't set in before I am done riding them. Other great rides but short on the coasters. Same with Busch Gardens Tampa. A few good coasters but nothing like Cedar Point or Six Flags Magic Mountain.
As stated by others, it is not only the screen name, but also your closing remarks. I'm just fine with people attending Disney in droves. I've ridden all the coasters, and don't plan a return visit until a new one is built. Walking around in shoulder to shoulder people and dodging strollers left and right just doesn't do it for me. I'll take the less crowded and more exciting "thrill" parks any day.

Well I just got back from riding the DBH on January 1 and it was awesome. Yes as stated above the ride ops could care less. They didn't check the lap bars at all. This is good and bad. They allowed one click rides but that could become dangerous. Atleast the guy in controls looked to make sure everyone's seat belts were buckled. They must think of the seat belt as the primary restraint and the lap bar as the secondary restraint. Disney doesn't check restraints on Rock and Rollercoaster so its not just Boomers. They allowed you to stay in your seats if no one was in line. All in all the ride was great producing lots of airtime with only one or two dead spots. Also the park is very camera friendly. They will allow you take a still or video camera on the ride and film no questions asked. Boomers is a nice little FEC and also they have 4 DDR machines in the arcade which is awesome. A coaster enthusiasts paradise.

It is no PNE Coaster or Ghostrider, but The Dania Beach Hurricane is well worth riding if you are in the area. On my visit to the DBH back in May 2001,I did not have the negative experiences with the ride ops that some of you had. They were quite friendly with me.By all means,do the unlimited rides option. $6.25 for one ride vs. $10.00 unlimited rides was a no brainer for me.But then I was a coaster starved enthusiast from the Pacific Northwest.

Lets' save the Vancouver PNE Coaster before its'too late!
