Dania Beach Hurricane get together

I just caught on Chattanooga TV (excerpt from some feed in florida) some sort of day today at Dania Beach, where old people were coming from around the country to ride the hurricane. I don't know if they were going for some kind of record.

It seems that no one was below 70, one lady 81, took an overnight train to get there. Does anyone know what this was all about?

Yeah. They're shooting for a record of some sort. When I was there last week, they had a sign stating "If you are over 65 and want to break a record, please see the manager."

They showed this in DC too (or B-more, I dont remember which station I was watching). Anyway, they were going for the record for oldest combined ages for coaster riders. They said that, although Guniness had yet to confirm it, that the folks did indeed break the record.

I don't know if this is the exact lady, but I have a movie where the oldest women from ACE is riding the MS @ CP. She is 81.

Yes, It was on my local news as well(the coaster is local for me). I'm surprised it was on the news in other places. I posted a news item 2 days ago, but I guess Jeff didn't feel it was newsworthy. He was probably right... I mean I really didn't have a link to any site with more info, I just told it like I saw it on TV.

DB Hurricane is pretty rough for a bunch of Senior Citizens. No offense to any seniors here, I hope to ride until I'm 100 or so, and love watching people freak out when they see you in line, hehe. But then again, if someone over 80 can ride MS and survive, anything's possible...I want to meet 25 -30 of you there in 2050 to break their record.

Pretty rough? Have you ever ridden it? Or is it that you have never ridden another woodie? It is one of the smoothest wooden coasters out there. If there was ever a coaster for elders to ride, this would be it.
