Cypress Gardens shooting for Oct. 1 opening

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Cypress Gardens is now shooting for Oct. 1 for its grand re-opening. New owner Kent Buescher blames a cascade of problems, from a lack of cement to unexpected buried cables and wires, for pushing back the deadline.

I'm looking forward to checking out the new park this fall. It is definitely understandable that unforseen problems may crop up when you are dealing with a project of this scope. Heck, just look at all of the delayed coaster openings this year and these guys are trying to open a park on time. BTW, where is this Great Adventures place at? I've love to visit it ;)

LOL Pale Rider, no kidding. Kent B. built TWO parks in Valdosta, that seems kinda foolish, no? ;)
At first Gator, I thought that they were talking about that rumored Six Flags in Florida park they talk about so often. Six Flags Great Adventures.
there is a six flags great adventure...but its about 1100 miles north of florida, in a small central NJ town......

tim..who misses nitro and chiller

Well, It appears that this will be a very family friendly park, which for me is great, since I have a 4 year old and a 9 month old. By the time we get to Florida again they'll both be riding coasters regularly. Anyway, RCDB had some info. about the four coasters he's installing at Cypress Gardens Adventure Park. Am I correct in thinking the Screaming Crocodile is the same model as PKI's Runaway Reptar? http://www.rcdb.com/locationdetail1061.htm
Yeesh, I guess I need to put the proverbial *wink*wink* at the end of all of my posts.
the valdosta, ga park is called WILD adventures

per rcdb

dang news outlets never get their facts straight

Chadley....here's the *deal* as far as coasters are concerned, to the BEST of my current knowledge/understanding.

Screaming Croc *IS* going to be a kiddie invert, like Swamp Thing at WA or RRR at PKI. Duane has the track length for these listed *consistenetly* between 1122' and 1130' for the ones that HAVE track length shown.

Storm Surge *should be* a mid-size Rollerskater akin to CP's Woodstock Express, a larger version than the one Kent B. has at Wild Adventures (name: Ant Farm Express).

NaviGator (named after UF's yearbook, LOL) *should be* the orange and blue tracked coaster, and that is an exact copy of the Zamperla Zig-Zag shown at IAAPA '02 then moved to WA under the "manufacturer's moniker" of Fiesta Express.

The FIRST woodie is a junior, and pics are here: http://www.rcdb.com/installationgallery2746.htm?Picture=2 From what I have seen and heard about this coaster, all I have is *conflicting info*, but I'm looking at something closely resembling a John Allen junior like those found at the *good* Paramount parks...;)

The second woodie, which no longer appears here (in the list of coasters at least): http://www.rcdb.com/locationdetail1061.htm no one's really TOO sure about it seems. The coaster that I had heard it was going to be *based on* was NOT a big thrill for me, but looking at the line-up thus far, I think it's easy to see the demographic the park is going after, so I'm not expecting an Avalanche, a Tsunami, and definitely not Tremors...;)

BTW, *great* to see I can pick up an Annual Pass to both Cypress and WA for only 60 bucks....when Cheetah gets that much-needed trackwork, it's nice to have a CCI 100 miles from my front door (100.4mi actually, but who's counting?)....;)

I have said it before you do not have to wait for this 3 out of 4 coasters are already running at Wild adventures. The jr woodie is the only new coaster in the bunch. The full size woodie has been delayed or canceled.(their is a rumor he may try for miracle strip's wood coaster) There will be some new flats and the gardens themselves will be cool.I just had wished for something new and exciting.I have not renewed my AP for wild adventure's this year but may get a new one in january.I will probably stop by here on one of my many trips to orlando for a few hours (1/2 day most likely). The free gate with WA AP's is cool but I can also get in US/IOA and BGT/Seaworld with my annual passes.
