Cyclone begins to whirl at Dreamworld

Cyclone has been running successful test runs, some with human riders. The coaster is set to open just days away on December 26.

I thought there trains were suppose to have lapbars????
I'm not sure who gave you that impression. As far as I know, the only trains being given lapbars are the Premier coasters.

Until you get a parking space with your own name on it, you're still part of the GP.

That is one steep drop!I'm just joking. Is it possible to get airtime on a drop so unsteep?

Montu is smooth as glass.Ninja at SFOG is as smooth as sandpaper.

Nope, I've been on it at it's original location. As for the lapbars, they're planned to go on the second, new train. What you see on Cyclone is all there is - just one 6 car train. Hence I'm not looking forward to queuing for it, the waiting time will be about 3 hours! Hopefully DW will get the new train very soon.

BTW, Cyclone looks great! Its paint scheme is so much better now. Before it was yellow track, white supports & red train. I'll be riding it sometime in the middle of January, can't wait!

It looks like a really interesting coaster, definitely not the typical Arrow layout with loops followed by a boomerang followed by a corkscrew.  Too bad its thousands of miles away from me...
Yeah, its going to suck queing, but hopefully it will distract people from TOT and GD. That train looks new doesn't it?

anyway, I'm going there on monday (day before christmas, hopefully not to hot and not too many people, you;d think there would be less crowds being the day before christmas, and 2 days before a new ride opens?

Good! Another great Xmas present! Glad to see her up and runnin' again. And I've gotten airtime on just about every Arrow I've ridden. You have to know where to sit! :)

Where do you recommend sitting?
I can't see why there is hype about this coaster, its nothing compared to stuff dreamwrold already have.
I think you will get some air time but not a huge ammount.  Those trains do look pretty new and I wouldn't mind having them on the coaster because they do look really cool being how low to the track they are.  The layout is really unique but I am wondering how rough it is.  Has anyone ridden the ride at its original park?

Is it just me or does "Cyclone" and "Arrow Looper" not belong in the same sentence?

""An hour wait for a 2 minute thrill. Yes, we need our heads examined""

It is just you. Well that's what I think. What do you mean anyway?

It is the original train, remember it only ran for a few months at its Sydney location. DW did a great job on it, yep, it looks like new.

It is very smooth except for one shudder at the end of the turn under the lift before travelling out to the turn before the Sidewinder. I can't really remember any airtime on it. I think there is some as the train zips past the vertical loop, this s-curve goes up & down a bit.

Personally I like riding in the front, once I had tears streaming from my face from the blast of the non-stop wind or Cyclone is it? :) The back is fun as well.

I think it is not over-hyped, you'll see, no-one will ever ride Thunderbolt again after riding Cyclone! :) I'm hoping that TB will be demolished & a new coaster built in its place. Maybe that's why DW built Cyclone in front of TB, to take the attention away from it as they phase it out.

I said that because when I think of the name Cyclone , a wooden coaster comes to mind. We have alot of coasters in the U.S. with the name Cyclone but a steel Arrow looper usually doesnt fit the mold. Thats what I was getting at.

Yeah, I know, when I first heard about the name, thought the same. Then as I got used to it, it fitted in perfectly.
Well Chi, there *is* an Arrow looper State-side with 'cyclone' in the name. The "Carolina Cyclone" down in Carowinds is a looper very similar to Demon @ SFGAm (& PGA or course). It's actually a very good ride (but then again, so is Demon :))

I rode this coaster at its former location a year ago August. It was one of the most beautifully situated coasters in the world! As you went up the lift you had a great view of Sydney. Anyway, we got two consecutive front seat rides and I don't remember a great amount of airtime. But it is a fun little coaster and it does have a unique layout. I'm glad to see that it has a new home!
The ride is not getting a second train.  This was a maybe in the beginning and has now been ruled out due to the budget the park has set aside for this ride.  The lap bar restrtaints have also been scrapped.  This to was only ever a maybe and when stated back in August was only a rumor.  The park is not removeing TB next year but they are doing something for the rides 20th birthday.  No details have yet been released about this event.  Hope this clears things up.  Will be going to the park in about 2hrs to see if it is all ready to go.

TIll next time.

"Thunder from Down Under"
The Croc Man Rules!!!

I was just at the park last week. I cant believe there going to have the que lines etc finsihed.

The Ride looks extremely bare, theres no theming that I could see. They were beginning to put in some plants.

I noticed the spiral ramp que house. Just like the spirals at Stadium Australia in Sydney. Allows good access, ie wheelchairs etc.

I suppose they will dress this up. I would imagine so the spiral looks like a cyclone.

Any idea of the theming elements planned???
