Custom Vs. Prefab

What do you think about people who use mostly prefabricated elements and supports? Are their rides somehow not as good as someone who makes their own loops and supports?

I have seen so many really good rides get slammed in thir ratings just because the preson rating the ride sees that the builder used a prefab element. What's the big deal? The game came with them, we all paid for them to be there, why not use them? Maybe the prefabs are not the greatest elements in the world, but talk about a time saver! What are your thoughts?

Personally, I have made my own cobraroll, corkscrew, and many other elements and pre-fab'd them. The ones with the game are too rough for my tastes. So I made my own. I dont use any prefabs that came from the original game anymore.

I myself use the vertical loop, modifying it every time so it looks right, and the corkscrew. Cobra rolls I'll use when I just want to finish it quick without doing all the work, otherwise I'll do it myself. As for supports, I will not use the basic supports for inversions, but will for some parts of the track, mostly brake run and the base of the lift hill. Almost everything else is custom.

Where are these track ratings you speak of?

-------------
Mayday - Memorial Day Weekend - Nonpoint, Nickelback, Oleander, Staind
Ozzfest - June 8 - Drowning Pool, Papa Roach, Linkin Park, Disturbed, Black Sabbath
Awake Tour- June 15 - Darwin's Waiting Room, Puddle of Mudd, Deftones, Godsmack

You might call me a weasel, but I just prefab'd other people's elements. If they say don't copy the elements, I won't but if they don't say anything, I assume they don't mind. I see nothing wrong with that. I've replaced my cobra roll, loop and corkscrew prefabs with better ones. The prefab cobra roll really sucks. On a few coasters, the ride is really good the whole way, very smooth, and then the cobra roll is really jerky. The loop is out of shape and the corkscrew is jerky. I usually just modify the zero G roll a bit to make it smoother. I usually only make recreations, so I use custom supports wherever they're needed.

CPgenius, there are a few websites out there that feature large areas of NL user's tracks available for download. Once uploaded, there is an option for others to download them and give a rating.
www.coastergames.net is one such place. (not spamming, just letting him know where one is)

I don't like how people slam coasters when they use a prefab.  I use prefabs all the time like the loop and corkscrew.  I try and avoid the cobra roll since that seems like the most hated prefab since it's a bit rough.  I do prefab other people's elements.  Well, I've only done it once with a cobra roll that was supposedly smooth, but it wasn't too smooth.  I've also prefabbed the Immelmann, dive loop and batwing made by Ole.  Those ones are pretty good and I use them every so often.
