Fundament Nodes (footers) are placed on the ground. Track Nodes are attached to the track. Free Nodes can be placed anywhere in space. Simply switch to Add Support mode then add the nodes where you want them. When the nodes are in place go into 3D view, select the kind of beam you want to join the nodes with and drag a line between them to complete the beam.
