Custom Flat Rides

This is a question for anyone who knows more about computers than me. So basically anyone can answer.

Why do the custom flat rides increase the file sizes of the parks so dramatically? Is this something the designers,Amazing Earl, Buggy, ect. could address? I am building a park with many custom flats but the file is so big I could never upload it to any site.

One ride alone, Alpine Bobs-covered version, raises the file size of a park 5 MBs.

Yeah, its really annoying. I think that AE's new flat rides are totally awesome, and I'd use them in a park, IF they didn't take up so much file space. A park with them in was 15MB, making it impossible for me to put online and share, which makes it a waste of time, in my opinion.

As far as I know, they take up so much room because, like custom scenery, they comprise of .dat files which you need to put in the ObjData folder. These files are basically new graphics/animations for a ride, so like custom scenery, they add to the park file size, except to a much greater extent, as the rides are much more complex.

I don't think there's any way round it at the moment, we'd need some kind of proper ride creator which Infogrammes use. I mean, we have the graphics, animations etc. all that's missing is that final piece of the puzzle to make the file sizes smaller...

Yes, they are so big because they have to be imported with the save file. Something like a carousel takes up no space because it is already included in the RCT2 object files. Since rides must be fully animated from four directions, they will always take up a lot of space simply due to the fact that they are a lot of data.

The only possibilty I can think of is choosing to click off the "export scenery" option when you save the game. Then in the description, list all of the custom objects/rides that are needed to be able to open the game. If someone already has, say AE's Swinger installed, they don't need the extra files that come with the saved game. I am not sure, however, if the custom rides are included in the "export scenery" category or if they are considered different. It's worth a shot though, I think.

The custom rides are nice, but this is why I don't bother to use them. If I'm going to spend my time making something good, I might as well make it upload-friendly so I can share it with people.
