Custom Coaster Trains

Boodley was with CCI in the early years, Hain was with Dinn Corp. I don't think GCI was capable of building enough trains to satisfy CCI's needs in 2000. And even if they could I doubt they would want to do business with CCI.
Actually The coaster linneage runs in a straight line (With branches) all the way from Lemarcus Thompson.

Yes one of the founders of GCI was with CCI. Ironically two of the three S&S woodies were from a former CCI guy.

The Gravity Group is the four designers that were with CCI at it's closing, Or should I say 3 designers and one Structural Engineer.

Claire Hann worked with them as well as he took his fall on the Hoosier Hurricane..

Man, Someone needs to make up a linneage chart.

I know Larry Bill learned from Allen and Summers.

Curtis Summers puts fear into me when I think of many coasters (Texas Giant, Georgia Cyclone, others) but anyone know where he is at the moment?

He passed away a long time ago. Texas Giant, Georgia Cyclone and Timber Wolf are great rides IMO, despite their current condition.

PTC lapbars are designed to rest on the lap of the average adult. Unfortunately in this country there is only one average adult and it is you CoastaPlaya. The lapbars only work on you. Kids and super skinny adults still have room under it and the new average American can hold the bar up with their gut and still get air. I still enjoy negative G's even if I am stapled on a ride but air is still better.

Regarding G-trains, I did notice a little banging on the bar with my leg, but it really was not a big deal or difficult to avoid. I love Boss in the second seat. There is plenty of good air there.

The Millennium Flyers are the bomb except for the lapbars tendancy to lock lower during the ride, but that is not that big a deal. They are my favorate trains. It would be awesome if they could run MF's on TGG coasters but I know that will never happen. I am sure GCII really does think they make the best woodies but they don't. It is too bad we will never run the best trains on the best coasters. And it is also too bad that GCII places the emphasis on turns that airtime deserves and vice versa.

GCI and TGG should unite to form the ultimate wooden coaster team and drive everyone else(which would be?) out of business.

Thats what we like to call a Monopoly though and illegal in this country ;).

I prefer the variety of TGG, GCII and S&S. All three of them make great coasters.

^ Hey, you might want to re-word that slightly... ;)
Ok, GCI makes Great Coasters.

TGG makes Awesome Coasters

S&S are just sick :)

Chuck

I'll quote myself for those who missed it...

A coaster with those stupid PTCs feel the same as they did when I was lugging 70 more pounds around...and in my humble opinion, that simply won't do.

I didn't say I don't get air. I said I get Big Guy Air and since I'm small enough to do much better, I don't care for it.

For that matter, VF's Excalibur lap bar will always drop down on me...but I'll still get Real Air on the One Good Hop after the 180° turn. Stapled or not.

I like seat-flying, violent air and brook no apologies for doing do. Magnum was perfect when I was in the 220s; but now that I'm leaner, I have to choose the right seat. Avalanche's turns suck--padded or not--cuz I have ribs there. But I'll take a beating if the coaster's actually good. I won't do a marathon, but I'll definitely get back in line.

'Clops and Boss? The clouds parting to a singular ray of sun as a chorus swells to a crescendo.

But hey. That's just me.

NOTE: Severe fecal impaction may render the above words highly debatable.

Nate, What do you say about having your ribs bruised all to hell from them short sidewalled PTC's. Avalanche caused me some serious pain untill I learned to ride in the left seat only and let the divider absorb the latterals.

I can't say I've ever had that problem. I've ridden Avalanche dozens and dozens of times, and there's only one turn that has ever bothered me (and I believe that's the one that was slightly reprofiled after the first season).

Apparently I'm just built exactly right for PTC trains...or something.

I'm beginning to think rider preferences are *at least* as important as the rider's build when it comes to which trains you like...

^Kinda like how I am just the right "build" that I can't enjoy El Toro as well as the rest of you's.

I like Chuck's explanation of the three woodie companies...especially for S&S. J2 especially is just SICK. :)

J2 is that good? I have only been on Avalanche and I had a hard time believing J2 could be better.

I also think that there have been more 'accidents' with the ptc 'ratchet bars'. Such as enthusiasts bunji-ing them, arguing with attendants, making 'keys' to unlock them... bunjis 'snapping'.

And dare I say the incident on Raven would not have happened with it's original lap bars.

You better phrase that as your opinion only. Even if I might agree. Be careful. She could have found a way to stand if she wanted to stand. Thats all Im saying and I won't beat the horse as it's my esperience that you can submarine under the Ratcheting bar. Expecially in the backseats where you can stretch your legs a bit.

Chuck, who's says this is my view only and also believes if she hadn't been doing somthing wrong, She wouldn't have been ejected with either lapbar. It's just easier to straighten under the ratchet than the fixed that rest over your lap, no matter what.

When I was a kid riding Rebel Yell back when it had buzzbars, I was a single rider riding next to some random teen who was able to stand up.
Getting back to TGG trains. I certainly believe they could find someone to design and build what they want for their coasters. However I also thing this would incur some additional cost to the buyer such as spare parts ect. As I said earlier. PTC has the market on having parts available and also interchangable parts.

I believe Chelshire Cat told me one time that when a hand grip on Legend's old G train broke. It took three weeks for them to ship another one to them keeping that seat closed for that long.

Chuck, Who says CCI did actually make some trains. LoCoSumMo's and three never used trains. I own one of them. The outlaw I believe is based on Schmeck Jr Wooden technology I own the prototype car they made in house for it which was basically a two bench PTC made of metal. What eventually ended up on the ride is much different for the rider.

J2 is better. It's Avalanche taken up a notch. Think of it as a 60 second Voyage. :)
