CSI: New Episode Shows Crashing Rollercoaster

Well, I've been watching the episode. The show made the park seem look like it was a carnival, yet the way they were talking about the park, it made it seem more perminant. The coaster used was a Pinfari Z47, at least I think that's what it was, if not it was very similar. The disturbing parts are that the coaster leaved the track at a speed that the coaster could NEVER reach and traveled an impossible distance.

Fortunatly they say a lot of good. For instance, the ride mechanic that they interviewed (who interestingly enough said he worked on Six Flag's American Eagle for 10 years) said how incidents like that have never happened in the rollercoaster world.

I'm still a little mixed over the whole thing, especially with the number of ride incedents so far this year. Guess I'll have to watch till the end to make a firm opinion.

I am also currently watching. It seems like a good show so far!
Heh, I was just about to post this. What a scary episode. It's starting to get really twisted now.. one of the best episodes. This kicks Friends' ass. ;)
From my looking at the coaster, my guess is that its the screaming mummy @ Pharaohs Lost Kingdom.

There are no bad coasters, only better coasters!!

Yup, that sure looks like it. And it has the mummy theme. Now its definitely gettting quite twisted!
Well, on the "bright" side, they seem to be making it more on the dangers of carnival rides. The episode is describing the park as finincially troubbled and a "Death Trap", yet I can't shake the fact that the park is being portrayed as a long opperating park. The part about having sex on the coaster I thought was a pretty interesting idea though...

Still, if it turns out the mechanic did it, I'm going to be very disappointed. The general fear in the publics mind that a disgruntled mechanic could do something like that could really hurt.

I am watching it right now and it is pretty cool.
I found it kind of amusing that before the show, there was an ad for Sfgam season passes on my local station.
Good Ending for the Industry.

The other kid did it.

I find it funny the way Grissom and Woody were talking at the end of the show and Grissom said he held the record for marathoning on Steel Phantom at Kennywood park. *** Edited 5/7/2004 2:04:01 AM UTC by Sarah Jackson***

The little plug for coasters at the end was pretty cute...named off maybe 5 or 6 coasters and where they were...

Desperado
Manhattin Express
Beast
Son of Beast
Phantoms Revenge...

I'm happy in the end with the way they presented it. Very happy indeed...

Heck yeah PKI! All of the PKI people were IMing each other going nuts about it.

Koster Frek
You are correct. That coaster was indeed the Screaming Mummy coaster at Pharos's Kingdom.

I missed the crash scene due to constant surfing between a few new channels I just got (Toto LIVE and in HD.....um, yea), and the final epispde of Friends (so sue me).

The only scene I actually got to watch was when the two main characters were looking under the loading station then confiscated some old dude's wrench

I liked the little coaster discussion Grissom and the maintenance man had at the end of the show. Overall a very good episode.

Did they say Phantom's Revenge, or Steel Phantom? It was mentioned pretty quickly, but I thought he said Steel Phantom.

Go to http://www.pharaohslostkingdom.com/. It advertises a CSI viewing party and states that the episode was filmed at their park. The coaster is a Galaxi.

Of course all these question could be answered by looking at the other three threads around here about this episode from the last month ;)

Grissom said Steel Phantom at the end.

And yes, that ending was about as cool as fictional TV gets for the lowly enthusiast :)

I taped it and am watching it now. Pretty cool, even though the "crashing" effects could be better.

I wish I would of taped "Friends" now instead...Bleh. This is more exciting, especially now that they are talking about sex on a coaster. ;-)

Yeah, I watched CSI instead of Friends...Oh the humanity. Now I'll be out of the loop when people bring it up in idle conversation...oh wait, I could care less.

I watched it last night and also thought it was pretty good. I don't think that they didn't do the coaster industry any harm. That was a great ending. As for the "highest body count", though, the episode with the bus crash had a lot more vic's in it.

#1 Steel: Sky Rush
#1 Wood: Voyage
#1Park: Holiday World

There was one other coaster mention in the show. The maintenance guy mentioned that, years ago - before he came to that park - he worked on the "American Eagle at Six Flags" (and no he did not say Great America).
