Crowds on July 4th?

CoasterBuzzers,

A friend and I are planning a coaster trip, and are contemplating going on July 4th. I've never been to a park on the 4th, and was wondering what you think the crowds might be like. Holiday World's website says they're usually pretty light on that day, but I'm skeptical. The parks I'm primarily interested in are CP, SFWoA, SFGAm, and PKI.

Thanks for your help,

Bigg Jon
PKI is EMPTY on the fourth...at least last year it was. Everyone is out at party's and I am cruizin on Son of Beast..ohhh... probably about 15 times that day! Try it out, I don't know about CP, or Six Flags, but PKI is empty!

Life is short, make it count...
Actually, July 4 is usually the most crowded day of the year for most parks. I have been to CP and SFWoA on July 4 before, and it was pure hell. If you are contemplating on going this day, I would say whole-heartedly....."NO WAY!" Just my 2 cents.

The last two years at The Point were insane. However, you have to also consider that there are legions of people who show up just to see the fireworks and hang out on the beach. The Soak City lot can even be packed until late at night.

The upside is that it is generally one spectacular show.

Since the 4th falls on a Wednsday this year, people won't have a three day weekend - crowds MAY be lighter.
I have always seen lines over an hour and a half for the majors at CP
what would crowds be like on the 5 &6 at SFGAm because that is when i am going.

welcome one and all, y'all come have a ball!
Things a bear-y fine, ridin' on the old knott's bear-y line!
I would think that some parks will be a little ghost towned up for the Fourth. Memorial Day, Labor Day, those kind of holidays, we head down to Myrtle Beach because we know thousands of people will be there, they just don't ride the coasters for some reason. Free basic reign for us! Regular good summer days are much, much busier. People have family kind of things sometimes, I guess. Mothers' Day and the week immediately after are incredible and I think Father's Day may drive out some crowds, but if the park itself says the holiday traffic is fairly light, I'd believe them. Plus, CP is an annual kind of thing for people that holiday (The 4th) from what I can tell, the girl at the kennel said it was crazy on the Fourth(not neccessarily for her), but if I were to go to CP for the Fourth(and I'm not), I think the crowd would be part of it, you know, large Fourth celebration. *** This post was edited by p_c_r on 6/12/2001. ***
Go to Vallefair on the 4th of July, we sure aren't a ghost park. Last season on the 4th we had over 27,995 if I remember correctly. Our main lot was full, the 2nd back up lot down near the river was full, aslo the 3rd back up lot near 101 was half full. Plus people park on 101 and the road towards the right side just to watch the laser firework show. Just come to Valleyfair on the 4th of July and find out.
I go to SFStL every year on the 4th, and the crowds usually aren't too bad. Short Lines, too! Of course, it usually gets more crowded towards night, because of the fireworks. *** This post was edited by Benjih1043 on 6/24/2001. ***
