Crowds in Mid winter in So.Cal

I tried to hijack a thread but it didn't work so now I have to start a new one. :-P I've never been to a park in mid winter so I really have no clue at all what crowds are like at SFMM, KBF and DCA in early Jan (4th, 5th, 6th). Thanks in advance.

-----------------

I would almost count on it being pretty dead, but schools are still out at that time, but not nearly as bad as before Jan. 1

See THE ULTIMATE in Orlando TR'S! Right now in the TR fourm!

It shouldn't be too bad. While some schools are still out that week; some schools also start school that week.
How good (or bad) might crowds be around Dec. 7-14...especially at SFMM??
Non-existent. Don't worry unless you are going in August or Fright Fest.

-----------------
CCN's forums are now fully operational.

Don't forget that SFMM is closed on Weekdays except for maybe Dec 21st-Jan 7th. DCA shouldn't be a problem, except maybe on Saturdays. Knotts will be a problem possibly, their hours are extra long (9am-11pm on saturdays and 8 am-9 or 10pm all other days). Lines should be around 1 hour, except for smaller rides, and Xcelerator should be smaller.

Ahhh, if only I had money for a lot of plane trips right now.

It's going to be a long time until late March/early April.

Would a full day Sat. or a half day Sun. be a better idea?

Anyone know any discounts on park admission?

Or if X is taking fastpass these days?

Thanks in advance.

I'd do DCA on the 4th of January, saturday (no so cal AP park hoppers=no crowds), Knotts on Sunday, and SFMM on monday. You could mix up those 2 last days though, won't matter. Heres what to expect: DCA will be lightly crowded, but using fastpass will totally make up. Knotts will be lightly crowded, and depending on how fast crews work (ie 3 towers of supreme scream and 5 ride attendents on Per. Plunge), waits will vary from 30 minutes to 1 hour for the big rides. SFMM will have long waits.

Just curious you guys are out of school that whole week we go back on the 2nd lol.

Perhaps I should clarify since my plans are a bit more clear. I'm only doing SFMM, I'm going to be on X, pretty much all day (having flown out and not gotten to ride twice already) and I'm going either Sat. all day or Sun. afternoon (around 1p-closing).

Apollo: The key to enjoying X (the ride, not the drug) is to get to SFMM at least 30 minutes before opening. Get in line at the front gate and go right to X when the park opens. Ride the front seat first, as the extra line for that can add another hour or more to your wait if it's full. By the time you get off (especially if you go on Saturday) the line will probably be two hours long. Pray for two train operation...it's doesn't move the line much faster due to the slow load/unload operation, but there's at least more to look at.

I'd advise going on Saturday, since you state you can't be there at opening on Sunday. The rest of the park will be more crowded on Saturday, but the line for X is usually really bad by 10:30 am no matter which day you pick.

Good luck, and I hope you get on it before it goes SBNO again!
