I went on the 26 last year and it was ok.  Not busy nor empty but no rides were walk-ons.

I heard the best day to go is on Super Bowl Sunday.

It will probably be busier this year than last due to the fact people are traveling less since 9/11. Went on Thanksgiving which I had read here was not busy at all, wrong, most of the main lot was filled.
I would say that it probably all depends on if X is open or not.  If they have yet to announce anything, I don't see big crowds.  On the otherhand, if it is open by then, good luck...I've been talking to a lot of people and they say that going to SFMM is not worth it until X is open.  While I might not agree with this, the smaller crowds recently might give some sort of an idea into the "if they open it, they will come" belief.  Either way, good luck with the crowds and let us know how they were!!!

Happy Holiday's Everyone!
