Crowds at SFGAM's Fright Fest

I'm trying to plan a weekend trip to SFGAM or SFNE on the weekend of the 17-19 of Oct. I want to go to SFGAM more because we might be going on family vacation in New England next year, but I hear the crowds are really bad at SFGAM so whether or not the crowds are large will probably determine which park we go to.

Fright Fest at SFGAm is very popular. Expect big crowds and long waits.

Seriously, though, I have been there and had large crowds and I have had other days when the crowds have been small....it all depends on the weather.

I went several years ago on the Monday it was open, and it was utterly dead. If you're going more for the park and less for the 'Fright Fest experience', try to go on Monday the 13th if you can. If you want the 'fright fest experience', don't go then. My one experience at Knotts was on a slow Scary Farm night and while I enjoyed the walk-ons, I didn't get much out of the mazes. Crowds are what give the halloween events real energy and fun.

The crowds at SFGAm's Fright Fest depend on the weather even more than during the regular season. A sunny October day in the 70's will bring out crowds that rival a Saturday in July. However if it's overcast and cool, the park can be very empty.

Laugh your troubles away at Riverview, the world's largest amusement park.

Go On a friday Night if you can. It is open from 5-11 and We went there for the past two years and it is just dead. And since it's at night, the Fright Fest Experience in great too. We got to do all the coasters at least twice and Plenty of Flats too. It was a great night!

Dont go on Sat, the crowds may not look bad but they have limited park operations (and you have to pay for the haunted houses) the coaster lines are unbareable.

The crowds can be very hard to predict at SFGAm, especially during Fright Fest.

The first two Friday nights are absolutely dead. Even though the park isn't open for all that long (six hours), it's worth it because you can *easily* get everything done and then some.

Saturdays and Sundays are hell, but if you have to attend on one of these two days, go as *early* in the month as possible.

Just a quick side question. But when does six flags usually put up more details about fright fest?
