Creating vertices within segments...How?

How does one add a vertex within an already made segment?

Select the segment (click on it) then click the split button in the tool bar.

Awesome.  Thanks Jeff.  I can't wait for the real thing.
Hmm, why is it that whenever I add a vertex, it causes a shift in the track?  So that, if I had wanted to change a tiny part, I have to change the whole thing.

PS- I know I'm not being very clear, it's just that I haven't used the thing in a week...

When you add an additional vertex and split a segment the program will set the control points about half way to the vertex before and after it.  Often you'll get a slight kink and have to iron it out.  It's normal because you are going from setting the control points to shape a segment of a certain legnth to those same control points that are now shaping a segment half the legnth.  Some adjustment is needed.

Is there a way to insert an element in the middle of a track?

Ummm...kinda.  When you insert an element it will be added at the current end of the track.  What you can do is you can move the "first point" to the middle of the track and then disconnect the track to create the gap.  Then you can add the element which will be placed as usual at the end of the last point and then reconnect the track.  It's a round about way of doing it, but it should work.

OK thanks, I didn't know you could move the first point.

I'm having trouble making a curved drop, especially on an invert. Anyone know how to do it?

I had a nice curving drop going on a coaster I was working on earlier,it was sort of like Viper's drop. The only problem I had was trying to make a vertical loop.Every time I tried to do it I just couldn't seem to get the track to flip over at the top it looked more like viper's drop leading up into a straight vertical reverse point rather than an inversion.I tried splitting the segments and still no luck.

Vertical points will sometimes have that problem.  To correct it, click on the "Rel Roll" button at the top when that vertex is selected.  This will change the roll from absolute roll to degree of roll relative to the previous point.
