CP/MF Questions

Hey everyone, I have a couple questions because I am going to SFWoA and CP this weekend. I am staying at the Radisson Harbour Inn in Sandusky. Do I get a special entrance or any special treatment for staying at a CP hotel? If I get a special entrance, where is it? My other question- Does MF ever break down for a whole day? Could it be down for 2 days in a row? I am going to CP 2 days and I will die if MF is closed both days.

MF will NOT be closed. I would bet my life on it. I think it's only been closed for 1 complete day...Jeff? One time didn't they fly in the part and have it open for the last hour of the day?

I don't believe there's any special treatment, although maybe you consider a shuttle to the park special treatment. I could be wrong though.

You know that one day that it was closed? It was my trip to CP for the year. I'd been watching MF from the day it broke ground...went all the way from NY state to CP for that ONE DAY...and sure enough. MF closed...ALL DAY. I made a second trip later last year for the sole purpose of riding MF. I was seriously miffed when it happened, but what can you do?

That's what I'm afraid will happen to me!

SFGA2001,

All I can tell you is you will get world class treatment. There is no special entrance. Your about 1/2-3/4 mile away from the park. I think there is a shuttle if you do not want to drive up. Eat the all-you-can swallow breakfast at the hotel it's pretty good.
That never happened to me when I went to CP and rode Millennium Force.

Actually, the day of the closure the ride did open about an hour before closing time. You should have stuck it out... you would have had a ride!

Generally speaking, you can get pretty good package deals when you stay in the other hotels, but not Radisson.

As for riding perks, they pretty much don't exist. They made Rob Lowe wait in line for Millennium Force last year!

I was there the day Millinium Force was closed, thier were rumors of it opening back up that day but we were too busy riding Magnum until Midnight that night. It was because lightning had struck it the day before when we had real bad storms go through. It was like in mid-July of last year.

Now the day the track alignment computer glitch (May 25th, 2000) it did not open the entire day. I was there the entire day and did not see it run, unless I was looking at the wrong times. Still they compensated some people with Line Passes and such.

I don't think it will hapen again.

Not true... it ran that day. The ride hasn't missed an operating day yet, which is pretty remarkable given some of the initial issues it had (funny blocking, wheel problems, etc.).

Well, Jeff, then the park did a bad job of telling us. Around 8:30 that day, I was on Magnum and saw it run a few trains. We sprinted from the Magnum exit to MF, and asked about the train on the course. They informed us that they were just doing a single test and that the ride would not be open at all later that day. So we left. Bummer. I did get to ride it a month later, but I had to spend another $100 getting there and getting in.
Maybe they just didn't want to get your hopes up because they didn't know for sure.

I would probably count on it being open. This coaster is their pride & joy and they know thousands of people will be dissapointed if it's not open. Still there are no guarantees in life. I would take a chance though if I were you.
Also gonna be there this weekend SFGA. CP offers great packages! We are staying at the Breakers Express, our package is a room for two nights and two CP Passes plus some extras for $200.00.
We are going to Cleveland first, on saturday, staying over nite, going to SFWOA Sunday, driving 1.5 hours to Sandusky, and going to CP on Monday. Keeping my fingers crossed that the lines will be short. At my age the lines really get on my nerves!
Its not like Millennium Force is the only good ride there. That would be awful if you went to a park that had one star coaster.
HRD, you will love Breaker's Express. For the money, it's a very nice hotel.
