CP rides...

Does anyone have any suggstions on where NOT to sit on the coasters at CP when I go? Also, does anyone have any tips/tricks to make my ride the best experience possible?

-----------------

-Don't ride maggie (seriously) unless you want your theighs to kill for the rest of the day

-Ride in the back of MF

-Ride in the back of WT

-Prepare yoself for extreme air on corkscrews 2nd hill

-Ride MF at night

-Ride Raptor in the front

-Don't ride Mantis if you are a male human

-Go on power tower first thing in the mornin to wake you up

-Get there early and stay late

Don't ride Magnum!? What the heck? :) Actually, if you're worried about thigh bruising, take a spin in 5-2 or 6-2. 1-3 is the ejector seat and offers well, ejector air! 6-2 is actually better for the drop because you get yanked over, still get great airtime, but it is not quite as strong.

Also, try to avoid the third row of any car on Gemini. Sit in the first or second row of a car and you'll get a smoother ride. Sitting in the third row is not painful, but it's just not as comfy. Trust me - I rode 100 times in a day and avoided the third row of a car like the plague. :)

I prefer WT in the back, but try up front too. Some people say the front is better. This might be a moot point if WT is not running. :(

Ride Raptor in the front once for the visuals, but also try the back right seat for the "kick-out" over the midway at the top of the lift.

Mantis is really not that bad - just stand up straight and don't fight the ride. I usually hold my head forward a bit, but it really isn't rough - just intense. Watch out for the somewhat harsh stop at the end (same with Raptor when you're in the back).

Those are the rides I really care about my seats on. Any others, I pretty much take the shortest line. Have an awesome trip!

I had been getting rough rides on Magnum untill Coastermania. Someone told me to ride in the middle and not over the wheels. What a nice ride I did have. No ratcheting problems with the lapbars. And if you get a ride without the trims....WOW!

I hate the Mean Streak, but get o.k. rides in the front by holding on and keeping my back off the back of the seat.

Totally disagree about MF. I always wait for the front seat. I like the visuals of the drop and get the best air in the front.Worth the extra time in line for me.

My family prefers Power Tower on the drop side. The ride is longer and you have more to think about while you Slowwwllllyyyyy go to the top. Try it with your arms and legs straight out all the wat through the ride. You will want to hold on, but resist the temptation.

Ride MF anywhere, it doesn't matter, you get the same intensity and thrills from any seat. The middle of the train is actually the best place to ride, according to Intamin and a few of the CP Corporate Execs.

Ride Raptor in the back right seat. You get pulled over the first hill and it just seems more intense in the back. The front is good for visuals.

If you know how to stand correctly, Mantis shouldn't be a problem. I personally think it's a good ride, not one of my top 5 coasters at CP, but it's still good.

I rode Mean Streak four times in one day a few weeks ago and I was very surprised by the way it was running. The trims on the first hill were barely catching, and it was running very fast. I even got some good air time on a few of the hills. It's not really as rough as most people make it out to be.

Wicked Twister in the very last seat is great. I haven't ridden in the front yet, so I can't make an opinion on very front or very back. I have ridden in the middle of the train towards the front and towards the back, and the very back seat is definitely better than anywhere in the middle of the train.

Raptor is definately best in the back right. You really get whipped around on the first drop.

A good experience may be Blue Streak at night, you might get a ride all to yourself like I did to cap off a great day.

MF is good anywhere, smooth, and obviously great air on the hills.

Whatever you do, stand as straight as possible when getting your restraints adjusted on Mantis, do not try to rest on the seat.

Mean Streak is best up front, but don't expect too much.

Magnum is good as long as you're in the middle of the car you're in.

Gemini is nice and smooth anywhere. If the line for front seats where the 2 lines split is still closed as it was when I went last year, try heading near the front for shorter waits.

I don't have much to say about everything else.

Once again, does anyone think WT will be open July 4th and 5th?

Sorry, I got nothing for ya on where/when to sit on the coasters. IMO, ever rider has different experiences, different likes, different dislikes....So what I like on my coasters (like front row of MF), some may not. I think MF is their best coaster, others say Maggie...it's all a matter of taste. The only thing that I have ever heard is a concensus, absolute must-do in the coaster world, it is a night ride on the Beast at PKI...other than that, it's all a matter of taste, so my advice to you is simply..Just ride and enjoy!

Happy Coastering!

Well, i've just been surprised, Wicked Twister is actually running, it had been caught by the web-cam!
I agree with Superdude on most of those things except for Mantis and Magnum....Sit in the front on mantis.....I hate the back on Raptor Front is so much better.

Well, seeing as CP has earned "Best Capacity" and other such similar awards in various coster awards, you should have no problem having multiple rides on each and every coaster.

Just experiment from seat to seat throughout the day and find out which is best to your liking. Sit in each row, try the different trains for each coaster, stuff like that.

Let us know in a TR how your day went and how many rides you had, fav seats, etc...

Goodluck!

I would recomend riding Raptor in the first seat, far right. You really feel the cobra roll and helix that way.

Yea, this was probably a bad idea, but I used to ride Magnum in the back, with a slightly untight lap bar and seat belt, and sort of lean waaaaay back so that going up the second hill, I was looking at the first drop upside down. Or, kind of twist in my seat so that I experienced it 'backwards.' Both made it a bunch more fun.

When getting in Demon Drop, if I leaned forward, against the harness, it wouldn't clamp on me tightly, but enough to hold me in, and the drop is way nuttier!

Also, I recommend riding the Antique Cars with your eyes closed, but you need a buddy with open eyes to keep you from bumping the car in front, which is strictly forbidden.

Can't this thing go any faster?

From my experinces Maggie will only hurt your thighs if you sit in the middle of the train.

Is Magnum worse then Son of Beast in thigh pain?

Can we change the name of Top Gun to your mom so no one wants to ride your mom?

I'm tall (6'3") and have never experienced any thigh pain on Magnum. It's a smooth and fun coaster.

Coasters to ride in the back - MF, Raptor, WT, Magnum, Blue Streak, Gemini

Coasters to ride in the front - Mantis, (Raptor, WT, MF for good visuals)

I recomend trying MF, WT, Raptor, Magnum all in the front and back to see which you like better. Ride power tower up and down, because both are fun.

What an opportune time for me for this post to come up; on Wednesday through Friday of the week after next, my dad, a friend of mine, and I are going to CP! Some of you might recall that, a while ago, I made a post about how my family might be taking a trip to either BGW or CP. Well, seeing as how BGW is much farther away from us than CP is, the three of us are going to CP. Even better, the three of us will probably also be going to SFGAm later, and BGW isn't out of the question for a later trip! This could be "the summer of the skyrocketing track record" for me!
