CP Opening Day

The 1hr 45min drive took about 2hrs 20min. Heading south on 1-75 (from the Detroit area) there is construction from about mile marker 18 (Monroe, MI area). This construction goes all the way to the Ohio border. In addition, I-280 north and south between 1-75 and Rte 2 (Navarre St) is closed. The Ohio DOT website www.buckeyetraffic.com, suggests that this stretch of I-280 will be closed until November 2005. The only option it to take 1-75 south to the turnpike just south of downtown Toledo. Turnpike fare $1.70 from the I-75 entrance to Rt 4 exit.

I arrived to CP about 15 minutes before the gates opened. I was suprised by the bright sun and warmth of the day. This is probably the warmest opening day I can remember. The Ohio State University band was there and did the typical opening day fare. They did a nice job.

Maxair was a fun ride. I've never been on an attraction of that nature. It was disorienting, creating a lot of laughter. I think CP did a nice job adding this ride. I also noticed that WT had longer lines than usual. The upgrade with the new signage and paint in the games area is nice.

I was able to ride all of the coasters, waiting maybe 25 mins at most. TTD & MF were about an hour due to mechanical issues. Both issues seemed to be related to the restraint system being stuck in the closed position.

Something of interest...all those TTD banners that used to hang everywhere...are available in the gift shop next to TTD. They are $70 each and there are mininal discounts to those who purchase two or more.

All-in-all it was a nice day. I can't wait for Coastermania and CoasterEXT.

Was the park crowded? I checked the web cam and the lot was only half full and the park looked empty. How many trains were running on TTD and MF?
when I was there they were running all 3 on MF and 5 on TTD, which by the way still breaks down alot, although it seems it gets fixed faster and makes it over the top more when it does run. I got stuck on Magnum MF and TTD though.

And the TTD sign still says fastest rollercoaster and when I mention Kingda Ka the ride op at the entrance said Yeah but that doesnt work at the same time he was announcing that TTD was down for mechanical reasons

MaxAir was a RIOT! I don't know the *exact* specs but I noticed it was more of everything than Delirium. Nice!

We had a blast. GREAT weather, low crowds (especially in the mid-afternoon-late evening to where most everything was a walk-on to 20 minute wait).

Great day! I took a "newbie" friend of mine so it made it even more fun. Unfortunately I had to join her on a credit whoring adventure on several coasters that I don't particularly like (or should I say my old bones cannot stand) but it was worth it! Good times!

We noticed MF's train being stuck on the lift hill for a while, and of course Dragster was breaking down on and off all day. Typical opening day, but it's all good.

Magnum looks AWESOME with her new coat of paint, and is running EVEN better. She just gets better with age, as well as Raptor. :-P

KILLER opening day!

Ajrides - the park was not packed at all. It was a nice crowd, but not an overwhelming crowd. As expected the major attractions were busy. TTD had 5 trains with minimal breakdowns. MF ran three, but stacking was common.
