CP on the Water

Do you think that it's possible for Cedar Point to expand itself over the lake?

Well anything is possible with the right engineering.  Would it actually happen?  Probably not.  I would have to guess that the constant freezing and thawing of Lake Erie would make this a nearly impossible and very expensive task.

Not really - Lake Erie has a lot of ice that forms on it's surface, especially near the shores. Any support structures (for coasters, buildings, piers, etc) that extended through the water into the bedrock under the lake would take a severe pounding from the ice chunks, and probably wouldn't remain standing for more than a few offseasons.

What about dumping more soil into the water to create artificial land around the penninula? They did that here in Milwaukee to add room to the festival grounds they have here on Lake Michigan.

P>ot to mention there is the marina on one side, beach on the opposite side, and the "point" end is where Lighthouse Point and Sandcastle are located.  Unless they wanted to take away even more beach area, I doubt they'd even think about it./P>

While CP actually owns land that borders the lake, I don't really think own the lake itself.  That might prevent expansion over the lake.  However, this argument is really just academic when you consider the freezing/thawing issue.
