Because of my inept memory, I forgot that the Memorial Day Parade through Sandusky and Rt. 250 would slow our arrival. Because of this we couldn't arrive until 10:15, unpacked under the shelters with the food...by the way, if you would have had my ribs on the grill around noon, you wouldn't have wanted to go on another coaster all day!! They were great again. Weather was perfect, 70 degrees and not even a hint of rain, that's good for us, bad for lines.
Went straight to see what the big hub bub was about. When you see the MF trains buzzing the tower coming back to the station, you want to ride it NOW, but we said no to the 4 hour wait...good thing, we'll talk later. TO THE MANTIS. Good ride to start off with. Great G's, but of course, stacked trains because of someone's weak stomach. This happened all day on Mantis from what I saw. Hit Power Tower next, down. My buddy is not good with heights, but he agreed to go. About 1/2 up, he said "Woody, I really don't know about this." I replied, "Too late, but you're only 1/2 way to the top." Needless to say, he had to change his shorts when he saw the earth coming to him at 70 some mph, 20 seconds later. Great ride!!
Ate lunch, hit the Corkscrew, walked on. Then, the Magnum. I had the great opportunity to meet our fearless leader, Jeff (Webmaster J, my friends called him after) at the gate. Good guy, too. I finally rode the 'ejector seat' and my thighs are bruised from the effort. What a great ride, I have never had that much air time on that coaster. Hit the Gemini twice, where we slapped hands like crazy but lost twice!!! Later, we hit the Mean Streak twice, both walk ons, and MY GOD!!! I have ridden it about 30 times and NEVER has it been so rough. For the first time, I felt we were going to have to eject around the first corner, since the wheels under me never hit the track. Good rides, but the bugs were miserable! Seriously though, wait times have been far more manageable with three trains. I got on in about 50 minutes last night, which reminded me of the old Magnum days! And speaking of Magnum, they got to close up shop by 10:15 or so!
