CP how early?

I'm going to CP in about 4 weeks and I think I'll be staying at breakers. I know that the gates open earlier for resort stayers at CP but how early would you have to get up to be around the front of the line to enter the park?

Thanks in advance for your replys...

Hey there, I was just there about two weeks ago and stayed at the Breakers too. If you are staying at the hotel, you need to go to the front desk and obtain a pass that gets you into the park an hour early. I suggest that you are out there in line, with your pass and tickets, at least half an hour before the gates open to you. I got there at just about 9:00am (the time it opens early to hotel guests) and there was already thousands of people in line. I was shocked! And every single one of those people were headed staright for Top Thrill Dragster cause the line was already two and a half hours before the ride even opened. Two hours later there was a four hour wait! So, if you plan on riding that and don't want to wait forever, then you want to be waiting in line to get in the park very early. Also, the line for Top Thrill Dragster gets a lot shorter at night. But it's totally worth it regardless of how long you wait. Have fun!!!
im going to cp in august for my honeymoon. and how much a night is breakers? and some more info on cp would be great. ty

I arrived at 7:30 am for early entry, and just after I arrived, others showed. It just depends on what you want to ride first. Pick your gate, and run your butt off.

I thought the guests at the hotels got in at 9:30? I just made a reservation at Breakers Express and that's what the lady who I was speaking with told me. Is it supposed to change as the season gets busier?

Also, if i'm staying at the Breakers Express do I still need to go to the Magnum Entrance for the early visitors or does the main entrance let hotel guests in early as well?

All gates let hotel and Joe Cool guests early. But I can tell you if you're planning on hitting Dragster, don't try another gate. It's funny watching those from the front come running back REALLY out of breathe and wondering how those hundreds of people got there before them.

As for the time opening. I really don't trust those hotel people after some things that have happened to me. Best bet is to go to CP's Official web site and go check on the official times. It's almost always Hotel Guests and Joe Cool get in at 9am, and public in at 9:30. Though it can be 9:30 and 10am (but very rare.)

I would say get to Cedar Point between 9 and 9:15. That way you'll be pretty close to the front of the line to get in.
Ok I no this is a VERY old thread, but I didn't want to start another one since everyone would frown on me. Which gate is best if you are going straight to TTD? Thanks. And is it true that there can get a 2 hour+ Line even before the gates open? Thats insane.

The gate by Soak City and Challenge Park. Make sure you have your tix or season pass ready before you plan your early entrance. And yes, have the little card that shows you are a resort guest.

We were there Memorial Day weekend (at the Light House Point cottages) and got there about half an hour early, and yes there were crowds. But I did not find the lines for TTD at 2+ hours by 9:30 am. You do need to run though for a good spot. I must note that there were problems with TTD when we were there, and on Monday they actually stamped our hands in the morning to make up for it (which was the 1st time for us that that had happened).

Good luck!

Alrite thanks im going on the Monday the 18th of July. Glad to hear that it dosnt get 2+ hours by 9:30. Im to spoiled, I wont wait over 1 hour for a coaster unless its Volcano at PKD. Thanks for the info. Aslo I dont wanna wait to long either because Im trying to get my brother from the 200 foot Superman at SFA to get on the 400 foot TTD. Without going on MF.

I did that to a friend of mine he went from 200' on Nitro and Superman Ride of Steel to 456 on Kingda Ka. He waited 3 hours and was like WTF am I doing when we got to the station. Launch, Up, Air, Drop, Bunny Hill, Brake Run later I hear... I sooooooooooooo want to ride that again, right now! All that from a person who hates heights. Need I say more. The wait don't matter once the experience is done it will speak for itself.

Watch the tram car please....
In May I got there at 8:50 (to the Marina Gate) and I was the first one there. I took a brisk walk over to MF and was the first one in line by at least 5 minutes. When the gates opened to resort guests/joe cool club members, there was only myself and 3 other people waiting to get in at the Marina Gate. At night on the same day, MF was a walk-on and TTD was a station wait. In one day I got 15 MF rides and 7 TTD rides, with a total coaster count of 47. That's why I go in May ;)

I would say be at the Soak City entrance between 8:00 and 8:15 am if you want to hit TTD first thing in the morning. Be at the Marina entrance by 8:30 if you want to start your day on the Force. I usually opt for the force because TTD is not allways ready to open at 9AM. But if you head to TTD and it is not ready to open at 9, they will give out the freeway stamps then. Good luck.

#1 Wood: Voyage
#1Park: Holiday World

Thanks guys! Ya'll are really helping out. Ok, so we should hit MF first then head straight to TTD? And does the early entrance give enough time for multiple rides before the park opens, or does it pack with more and more hotel guests? BTW I'm staying at Breakers Express.
