CP-Closing Day

Associated parks:
None

What a great day the last day was. Though it started out a little windy and cold, the wind died down and the sun came out and it was a great day. There were about a million ducks in the lake on the way in and someone stopped right in the middle of the causeway to take pictures and I thought that there was going to be a wreck. I parked and headed over to the Marina entrance about 8:30. I wanted to try to get the front seat of the first train on MF, but I'm getting too old and too fat to keep up with the kids. I was able to get the third seat of the first train though. Not many people, but they were only running one train. The other two had the water people in them.

I met a guy named Adam (I forget his screed name) on one of my several laps on MF. He is trying to get to his 1000th ride on it. I rode with him for his 908th to his 914th ride on it. We also took a lap on TTD together. Great guy and he should have his 1000th ride early next season. Good luck Adam! Let us know when you will be taking your 1000th ride

One lap the guy behind me spit his gum out on the ground as he got into the train and the ride op chewed him out for it ad said that she would have to clean it up now. He tried to explain that he didn't want to ride with it in his mouth and that he didn't want to swallow it. The ride op pointed out the fact that there are trash cans everywhere and that he could have thown it in there. I could not resist and said as sarcastically as I could "OH! IS THAT WHAT THOSE ARE FOR?"

The weather cleared up early afternoon and was nice. This brought in a few more people but all of the lines were still short.

The red and black trains on Magnum seemed to be running a little slow today, maybe it was because they were not full. Several laps in 1-3 and 6-3.

Raptor was running great. I met a RaptorKelly but just missed RaptorJo. Maybe next year. I was looking to meet Jeff this year, but still haven't. Maybe next year.

Blue Streak was running great as was WT. I didn't get on Chaos as it was shut down when I was over there.

TTD ran well most of the day. It was open when the park opened but shut down do to the wind. It reopened but was shut down when I went over for a night ride. I did get two laps in on it in the afternoon. Still no rollback. Maybe next year. Talking to those who have several rollbacks under there belts, mathmatically I should be getting close to one.

To any CP employees that read this, thanks for a great season and I hope to see you again next year. *** Edited 11/2/2004 1:54:30 PM UTC by CP ismyhome***

I was there over the weekend. Saturday it was pretty packed so my friends and I just walked around, played games, and checked out the haunted stuff.

Sunday was PERFECT! Great weather! Mostly everything was walk-on or near to it. I started off with a Dragstergasm and ended with a better one! Had the BEST time hanging out with my "kids". lol.

Awesome day, and great TR dude!

-Tina

CP,

I also noticed all those birds sitting in the bay. The water was so still it looked like it was frozen and the birds were just resting on the ice.

While I didn't ride a whole lot, I enjoyed spending time at the park on Sunday. It was great seeing you Tina. Too bad you couldn't stay as we had a great time in the afternoon, even after Dragster went down for the season.

Jeff, Danny, Kristen, Lisa, and Jake showed me a whole different way of closing out the season. Usually I am all about riding as much as I can, but I decided to do something different this year and it ended up being the best closing I could have hoped for.

How could it not be fun with 5 people in a single Tilt-A-Whirl car?

It's always a blast hanging with you, Sean. It's makes stalker-dodging much more tolerable. LOL! Danny and I alone had enough stalkers to keep us busy LOL!

Lisa and Jake were WAY cool also!

I wanted to stay but those drives home takes their toll on me.......fast!

It was a GREAT weekend. Our little crazy group will have to do it all over again this weekend at PKI.

CPismyhome -
Thanks for posting your closing day TR. Sorry to hijack, but I do have to say thanks to Tina, April, Jeff, Danny, Sean, Lisa and Jake as well for an amazing closing day. I think back on the fun times, and I can't help but laugh at our insanity and hope we have just as much fun on Sunday at PKI. I'll never forget...

*Longest...windiest...coldest...ferris...wheel...ride...EVAR

*Jeff and I both got our very first Jr. Gemini rides thanks to Jake!

*Fitting 3 adults and one kid in a tub on Sir-Rub-A-Dub's Tubs, after being assured by the ride op that "they can't tip over!"

*STALKERMANIA!

*Our awesome on-ride pic from the last ride of the season on Magnum: Lisa, Jake, Sean, Danny, Jeff, and I had our arms around each other in a big group hug. :)

*Fun with Jeff's car's panic alarm while on Gemini. Now I have a whole new reason to always park in that lot! ;)

*The nasty tidbit of info I shared with everyone, and the resulting jokes for the next several hours. Some of those mental images will NEVER go away. Excuse me while I go throw up.
;)

*Having a final hurrah at Chet and Matt's after closing. Jake's artwork was truly awesome.

It was a lot of fun hanging out with old friends and making some new ones. Thanks for the great times, is it spring yet?? ;)

I didn't realize so many people from CBuzz were going to be at the park. I would have loved to have met some of you!

Is Cedar Point USUALLY that dead on Sunday's? I couldn't believe that everything aside from Dragster was a walk on. It was great! :)

Great TR!

Great TR, thanks!

KristinMarieKim.....you just LOVE torturing me, don'tcha...

bill, has no Jr. Gemini credit...;)

We missed you, Bill. We had most of the group: +Danny, Tina "mom", and two of her "kids" but there was an empty spot there for you.

Oh, and I totally deserved that Jr. Gemini credit! It's been my homepark for 13 years and I'd never been able to ride it. I also rode Demon Drop for the first time *shudders* I'll take Jr. Gemini or even Sir Rub-a-Dub's Tubs over Demon Drop any day ;)

Meh, we'll leave those first-gen drop for mom, she likes 'em...(she LIKES it rough I guess, LOL)....;)

I missed the Demon Drop this time. lol. STILL one of the scariest rides I have ever been on.....EVER! I got the Jr. Gemini credit years ago. :-)

So...now I officially have "four" kids and they are ALL married?

Since Bill is older than me I would love to know how THAT happened.....;-)

The car alarm thing was soooooooo freakin funny, almost as funny as Jeff and Danny holding hands (while Jeff thinking it was Kristin). LOL!

Fun, family times!

wow, I didn't realize there were so many of you guys there! There weren't that many people at the park, so I probably saw some of u and didn't know it.

maybe next yr I'll get to meet some people. I practically live at CP and its still not registering that I have to wait six months to go back! :(

Mark martin's Salute to you TOur 2005....Michigan 8/21!

Maybe we should have "Hello, I am an Emgee!" shirts made. ;-)

Jeff and I had matching Phoenix baseball caps on. That was emgee-ish enough. ;-)

-Tina

What is "emgee"?
rollergator's avatar
Major Geek = M.G. = "emgee"....;)

Master of Ceremonies = M.C. = "emcee"

Member of Parliament (not Funkadelic) = M.P. = "empee"

Mental Deficient = M.D. = "empty" :)

Well, from what I understand it's a coaster "tool" or another word for an enthusiass. I am still not quite sure where it came from I am just going along with everyone else. lol.

Actually, and enthusiass breaks park rules, argues launch speeds, and starts trouble cause their favorite coaster is down or being moved.

I think an emgee is.............what is it again Clint?

Bass and I made up the word "emgee." I guess you could consider it a mild insult but I view it as a term of endearment, like calling oneself a geek.
Or
I was there on the 30th after a long road trip that involved a friend of mine losing his tire on the Ohio Turnpike. It was very windy on Saturday, and I noticed a lot of the coasters @ Cedar Point were down because of the wind. It was still a great day! Opening Day is May 7th, 2005 @ 10:00AM, and I'll definetly be there! :)

Great TR! :)

My hubby and I had a blast hanging out with all our Po!nter buds, and just taking in the park at our leisure. The most fun for us surprisingly, was dinner at Johnny Rockets! :)
My TR is here: http://www.pointbuzz.com/cpplace.aspx?mode=thread&TopicID=15526

Sean: I made the DIRE mistake of riding the Tilt-a-Whirl last season with 3 of my friends and they were determined to make me sick. They came VERY close! You won't see me falling for THAT again! :)
Sorry we didn't get a chance to see you again!! If the horse show I'm planning on showing in this weekend falls threw due to the weather, Eric and I will be at PKI this Sunday :)

CP ismyhome-I'm sorry I missed you! I love meeting CBers and Pointbuzzers! (fka GTTPers ;))
Next season for sure! :)
