CP Capacity revisited

Cedar Fair already is in California, it's called Knott's. If you mean Northern Cal, why would they? It's a horrible market for amusement parks, with all the limitations imposed.

Ok, hold him down while I punch him, we have 5 chains up here in Northern California and plenty of space. Also, how is the Bay Area a terrible market, you could find the cheapest price for 180 acres in Livermore and have zero battles becuase Pacidenia is your only neighbor. The Bay Area is one of the largest metro areas in the USA, and with three major cities, and multiple towns/cities over 500,000 people you can't go wrong.

There aren't a bunch of limitations up here becuase most of are cities are industrial, note to self to visit sugar capital in Crokett. IF there are a bunch of limitations, then Mayor Willie Brown would have been rejected for planning to build a amusement park on Treasure Island, too bad the money went into building the country's tallest library

We've got a little amusement park inside a state park. We've got a amusement park on a historic island. We've got an amusement park smack in the middle of a city. Heck, we've got a ferris wheel, merry go round, turbo rides, Shark stunts, and Back to the Future in downtown San Fransisco. Don't seem like limitations to me.

Vertigo, remember that plopping down an amusement park in a saturated isn't as easy as opening some Bed & Breakfest in rural Iowa

....since we're on capacity, we have noticed over the past few years a really strong tendency for "regular" guests to become "needy" guests whenever lines get long. Most people wil just get on the train if they've waited 10-15 minutes to get on a ride, buit let lines get to an hour or so, and a MUCH greater percentage of people need *special attention*, engaging the ride-ops and further hampering capacity.... also, "hustling" ride-ops tend to get fewer of THESE patrons.....

Is this something we've dreamed up, or is this a real phenomena?

Then consider the fact that the other CF parks I have been to do not follow Cedar Point's capacity lead(Knott's running one train on Ghostrider) and it makes me go hymmmmm...

I agree with Outkast...Cedar Fair is a strange company. They run the rides at the Point amazingly fast. I've seen them do a VERY good job on Mamba at WOF too. Steel Force @ Dorney is okay, but not as good as Mamba. Then you have the rest of the rides at those two parks run at kinda so-so capacity. Then you have Knott's where the whole park is run less then ideal. It makes me scratch my head and wonder why that is. Monte used to be run SO quick. And now, they just take their time. And it's not all due to the seatbelts being added either. Knott's ride ops just aren't trained to have speed the way the ones at Cedar Point are.

A Bed & Breakfast that no one 's gonna' be going near. The zoning department isn't gonna' care out there in Dublin/Livermore and they'll let anything slide becuase Alfa Smarts already has a park out in the area and there are crazier thing than that in the area, like a 14 storie cinimplex built last year or BART running right through the pasture, or the 80 acre Biotech exspansion.

Back t the topic, I've seen the great operating at Valleyfair as well but Dorney Park is a far cry from it. Someone needs to teach them how to dispatch Hercules. For such a big & tame it should not give people such long waiting for a ride like that. You'll here guest walking of every hour saying, "We waited an hour for that?" or "I thought it was a good ride, but they're just slow." and plainly saying "That SUCKED!!!!"

The river rapids, Lazer, Steel Force, and Mad Mouse are other areas were find operating anad maitainance problems often.

Thats easy, all Cedar Fair parks are not created equal, and all Six Flags parks aren't either. Just compare SFGAM to SFWOA to find that out.
