CP and GL combo pass information

Even that being said, I think they lowballed themselves on the price. They could have easily gotten away with $200 for a GL/CP/Soak City pass I think. People were already shelling out $150 for the CP/SC pass, so to them, it'd be another $50 (so another 1 1/2 days admissions) to add GL. I'm pumped that it's so low price, but I just hope they don't end up with hit to the bottom line because of it.

How is the money from the pass sales going to be distributed? Anyone know? Are all GL passes (even with CP upgrades) going to stay in the GL coffers? If so, this could be a genius way to stuff money into GL by using CP for all it's worth ... (well less than it's worth in my opinion, see above)

All right, for the sake of argument, lets say you live in Avon Lake Ohio (approximately a 45 min drive to both parks). Your telling me, you, as well as other SP holders, would visit both parks so many times in a 4 month period that it would hurt the bottom line? I find it hard to believe.

What would you consider a "Golden Area"? I had a season pass for both last year and I visited GL maybe three times. A 45 minute drive is not just around the corner IMHO.

There are other things to do in the summer, and 120 days goes really fast if you have any kind of life other than amusement parks.

Realistically, how many times do the people on this board visit CP each summer? How many other parks do you visit? How many times do you visit these parks? When you visit a park what is the average amount of $$$ you spend? What do you consider visiting regularly? Once a week? Twice a month?

It's obvious the passes cannot be the same price based on "perceived value". If the prices are vastly different, the educated consumers will flock to GL purchase the lower priced pass and visit CP more thus leaving GL's in park spending, at a disadvantage. This is plain and simple, a way to make a profit the best way they can. I think $115 or even $144 is a steal for two parks, heck, for CP alone its a bargin.

It's not about hurting the bottom line as much as it is boosting it. Seriously, if you don't think the arrangement is fair, you don't spend the money.

From my puny little contribution to their bottom line, yes, I have been hurting it. In the past 6 years, I have not visited CP less than 10 times, and I live 2 1/2 to 3 hours away in Pittsburgh. So far this year, I'm at 7 visits, but counting days, I have 6 more planned over Halloweekends. I didn't visit GL that much when it was SF, I was using that pass to visit other parks (4 other parks to be specific) but this year, I've been there 8 times, although never more than 4 hours and that was the day my gf and I were relaxing at the wavepool most of the day (and GL is about a 1:30 to 1:45 drive). I've also used my CP pass at Knotts once and Dorney twice.

When I go on season pass, especially this year, I rarely spend anything, because I added the parking passes to both my passes. I think I bought one chicken basket and 2-3 drinks all year at GL, and at CP I bought a MF glass ($6) last time, 3 pretzels, and one Johnny Rockets meal early in the year (and that one I actually broke down and splurged for the drink). So that's it. Am I completely the exception? Yea, but you asked ...

So realistically, now that I have a full time job, I'll probably get to CP 10-12 times in a summer, more if I can find people to bunk up on a cabin or a room during Halloweekends and I'll hit up GL probably 5-10 times next year, maybe more if they really flesh out the park and I don't feel like the only idiot there ... If everyone behaved like me, they'd be out of business in a few weeks, but the benefit of people like me is that maybe 1/4 to 1/2 of those times, I'm bringing someone with me who's paying gate price for a ticket, who wants to buy food, wants to buy souveniers, wants to spend other various money at the park. If I didnt have the pass and didn't go so many times, most of those people would never have visited.

Sure it is. I live about an hour south of SFA, and just over an hour north of PKD. If somehow Paramount purchased SFA (I can dream), you can bet that I'd think it would be a steal if they offered a season pass good at both parks for the same price. I'd expect them to up the price, based on the fact that they both target the same area.
I really don't see the cause for complaints here. This was really the best solution. Irregardless of the fact that they jacked up the price of the GL season pass, it's only fair that there's an extra price to be able to have the addon ability. Granted, if people who can get a cheaper pass at a far-away park can get into both CP and GL, that's a little unfair but I don't think any Clevelanders think of it that way. This season I had a pass to both CP and GL, and so to be able to do both for less is fine in my view.

My only problem with this is knowing how CP has the worst season pass processing known to civilized man (it's true!), I have a feeling this add-on process is going to be as convoluted as possible. Hooray. We'll see tomorrow if their online renewal allows for the add-on. And as of yet, they haven't even said if the add-on is a separate pass and if so where it would be processed.

The add on will probably be a little logo like the Joe Cool one.

Looks like an early season trip to Dorney to check out Hydra could pay off all season long.

Lets not forget, if you visit CP or GL quite a few times each year, the parking will kill you. Your Dorney parking pass will not work at CP or GL. I pray to the good man above that a combo pass with parking covers both parks... Somehow, I think that will be the catch.

I never found the answers here or on the CP website so I posted another (now closed) topic on this, based on my results from the CP Season Pass office. Basically tambo got it right on, it will be another logo just like Joe Cool or Soak City. You can't buy the add-ons online (which I found silly) but you can submit the certificates with your mail-in renewal of the pass, which is nice. No standing in line for that one next year.

And yes, as of year 2005, there is no magical "all Cedar Fair property" parking pass. I doubt there ever will be. Still, for the people in the Cleveland metro area, the add-on pass is a great deal in my opinion.

I REALLY hope they figure out how to do a parking pass for CP and GL together. Even if they charge $120 (60 and 60 for both parks.) Granted I will get one parking pass for one or the other, but that STILL leaves me without a parking pass for the other park.

Sure the park(s) can say well no other parks have parking passes that get you into the other parks. That's fine. Then just let me buy just a season pass ID for one or the other park. since I bought a "combo" pass. They need to allow something for those of us who need one.

I might even just have to buy a seperate pass at CP and one at GL just to get the stupid parking thing. I know that's A LOT more money than the combo pass, but as many times as I visit the park, a $9 parking fee racks up VERY quickly.

I wish CP/GL would just add a different type of "P" they put on the passes. It's simple and they still get their money's worth.

It's not like they have to change around millions of things to make this happen. Yeah, it might be a little bit of paper work with taxes, splitting the two parks income, etc. But it's not coaster physics...and even that's easy now ;)

Why can't you get two parking stickers?
