CP 7-28

Arrived at CP at 8:30 and the line for the gate was already to the bathrooms, so I knew it was going to be a BUSY day! I was sooo right!!

I spent the beginning of my ert at Raptor where I got 5 rides before it was taken down for a bit. I decided to hit up MF thinking the line couldn’t be too bad yet. I guess if you consider 45 minutes not a long time then I was right.

I also noticed with this ride that STR was DEAD.
I would also like to add here that TTD was dead in the morning also. Intamin-who knew? ;)

It took no time for the park to look and feel crowded. I walked around and jumped on anything that had a short line. The only thing that did was Skyhawk, it was a walk on when I got on it but by the time I got off it there was a huge line. I walked past STR a few times and nadda. By noon Mav had a 2 hour wait, even MS had a 45 minute wait. TTD was down but there was already a huge line.

I bought my newest “have to have” park food, apples with hot caramel (that and a bottle of Dew $8.45 but couldn’t care less) YUMMY!!!!
I justified the cost by NOT buying these 2 Raptor t-shirts I’ve had my eye on since opening day.

I decided to head for the beach and chill for a while. I was daydreaming I was in Florida which considering the sound of the coasters, Maggies lift chain and the people screaming that wasn’t easy to do! I ended up falling asleep for 2 hours and fried. Then to add insult to injury I ended up burning the bottom of my feet on the hot sand. Could I be any dumber?

I found out STR had been up for about 45 minutes so since I had my bathing gear on (which consists of a sports bra and mens trunks which hides fat real good) decided to walk over there and could cool off. By the time I got there….dead again. OMG! :(

I was done even trying, changed back into park clothes and met one of my good friends John for a bit. By now it was past 5 and the park was STILL packed. We got a DT ride and I talked him into seeing Snoopy on Ice. He had never seen it before and really seemed to enjoy it. By the time it was over I decided I so needed to go home.

There wasn’t a lot of riding for me going on but I didn’t plan on that anyway. I just love walking around the park and seeing people having a good time. I am still amazed on how crowded the park was, even after 6pm. Good to see CP can still bring em in!!

Jo, it was down all day yesterday too. It seems there is some kind of problem with the bottom of the second drop. They were banging on something all day under the water at the end of the drop. It tested boats, and it seemed that the boat was not skidding on top of the water like it should be doing. It was hitting in the back end of the boat and then the front was raising up, causing a wave immediately.

To me it seems that the boat problem or the flume itself is the problem of the ride. Something just didnt look right there.

BTW it was super packed yesterday too. It felt like old times at cedar point, but the crews were actually hauling butt to keep the lines moving.

The crews were awesome on Tuesday as well :)

I know the boats have been an issue from day 1 and I thought by them roping off forever the last row it was a band aid for now, guess not.

It really sucks cause the weather has so been water ride friendly for weeks now and CP hasnt been able to utilize STRs as much as they would have liked. STR hasnt been running for any of our visits yet this season. I did the commercial shoot so I did get to ride it 2x that day.

Looking at the webcam it is running now....hopefully it will stay up

I got on STR yesterday, and I'll be honest, I freaking loved it. You get wet, but not anywhere near Snake River or Thunder Canyon. With the waterfalls, I'd say it's close to the old days of the waterfall over the cave on WWL, at least from what I remember.

I know the POV looked slow, but the flume portion of the ride moves fairly rapidly. I don't care if it's raised or not, it feels like a flume to me.

The ride area is absolutely beautiful, too. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the trees are only going to look better with age.

Let me guess you werent sitting in the 1st row on the left were you? I sat there my 1st ride and got DRENCHED! Plus it was only like 65 degrees outside (7am) and it was COLD!!! :)

I havent told my hubby about the left side of the boat, I will just be sure he sits there when we get to ride it ;)

Nope, Tony told me to avoid the front. :)

I sat in the back on my first ride, and the 3rd row on my 2nd. Both on the left side. Hellooo waterfall. I laughed my way through both of my rides.

^ Oh please, let's not allow this lame punditry to take root in yet another thread.

If you don't like it, maybe you should just leave.

Maybe you should just admit you're barking up the wrong discussion, and take a bough. Before this thread gets trunk-ated. ;)
