But it's what one of the employees says that cracks me up. I overhear her say to someone "If you still have money left at the end of your trip, we're not doing our job right." I turn around and I said "Did you just say that?" "Yes, I did. Come on, you're on vacation. You'll look back on this in February and remember the good time you had." She must be a follower of The Lord Gonchar philosophy of vacations
She's right. I still don't get the point of heading out to have a good time, then spending that time worrying about nickels and dimes rather than having the good time you were after.
For me, budgeting isn't about being smart with the money in order to take a trip, it's about making sure I have enough money to have fun on the trip.
Don't just do it, do it well. ;)
We stayed at the Breakers and visited the park each day. We also visited GL.
I am also old and out of shape - but not bald ;)

He also knew Tom Zeliff right away who designs the trains for the program. I don't get any of the coaster publications, and haven't been able to find any pics of these guys, so I'm not sure besides Ole who was who.
But, based on Matt's identification of Tom (he was tall), I must have been talking to Kevin Stone. I say "must have" because I never got his name. Even though these guys work on coaster simulation, we talked a lot about flat rides--specifically how they're run in Germany during Octoberfest and the $10 per ride charge for them (ouch).
CoasterDad64, that makes a lot of sense about how to survive a park for eight-days. Trust me, we were very thankful to have the five-minute drive to the park and back when we were at Breakers Express as we did stay a full day Wednesday, and almost a full day on Thursday.
Lord Gonchar, the other guys were very worried about money before the trip, but I think they were happy to have stayed in the two newly remodled Red-Roof Inns, which were really nice. And with Bryan's Triple-AAA card we got another $10 off at those places, as well as, one other motel. Breakers Express was the only hotel not to take the card.
The guys initially resisted staying at B.E., but I kept pushing the one-hour early admittance to the park for M.F. and Maverick, and that sealed the deal. Sure, we crammed four people into one room every night on the trip, but that brought the price down even lower per person.
Except for G.L. where we would've bought some food with my Maxx Pass coupons (but none of those places were open), we ate everyday at the parks we went to. We also purchased merchandise as well.
