CP 2001 - Yawn?

What do you think the 2001 season has for us? I know that the 2000 year hasn't started, but it's interesting to imagine.

I believe the 2001 season will be sort of a downer to some people, but add to the "Cedar Point" atmosphere. I suspect that the boardwalk project will go under construction and will be under construction for the 2001 and 2002 seasons. I believe they will be getting another (yes another) family coaster from the good folks at Vekoma which will be located near the front of the park. I believe they will be making a boardwalk along the lake with shops and rides, with the Big Wheel being the center of atraction. I'm not really certain what's going to happen to Disaster Transport (no they will not remove it, as stated by some CP official, which i can never remember who). I imagine that the boardwalk will start where space spiral and work towards the lake and then conforming to the beach and then cutting diagonal towards Power Tower and Mantis giving you the Millennium Force profile in the backdrop!

I also believe that they will be expanding the sky ride to extend to the "current" park enterence which will be developed and may hold a future coaster. I also wonder if they will be expanding into the parking lot from where the "current" enterence is. This could be a way for them to space themselves and when a new coaster comes along, they can disperse the noise from the coaster. There is already evidence that they are concered with noise because MF's lift. Who knows, maybe all future coasters will be like this.

Just my 2 cents!

2002 you say? Well lets just say, I mean wish, for a huge coaster!

I think it will be hard to yawn while riding Millennium Force some more in 2001. ;)

Yeah! Don't forget the "other" 14 coasters.

I just hope PKI doesn't add to their list in 2001...that would be a bummer! All the more it makes me wonder if they are putting in a family coaster (they need another one bad).

I feel that if Cedar Point puts in the Boardwalk shores, it will be a great move. Even though it is not a huge attraction, I love the idea of taking a break for a little while and strolling down by the beach side with my woman. I am sure they will put in nice places to eat. It will give it an old fashion appeal. After you chill for a while, then you can run to the nearest coaster line. Like Jeff and Mike said though, it will be hard to yawn when you have 14 coasters to choose from.

Yes, the Boardwalk project is an excellent idea. As far as DT, I think they should remove the building and turn it into Avalanche Run again. The ride would blend into the Boardwalk. The big building it is in now may overshadow that end of the boardwalk, the open ride will fit in nicely.
I was just reading this subject, and an idea popped into my head. Why not make the boardwalk project absolutely HUGE? How about all the way from DT to Hotel Breakers? It would significantly lower all of these "space" issues (which by the way I think they have enough space anyway) by putting walkways, piers, restaurants, shops, etc. And the restaurants could be nice fancy ones for older folks and people in the mood, maybe a few similar to that Friday's in Hotel Breakers. They could also put in a nice out and back woodie along the whole boardwalk, perhaps even dueling. Classic old-fashioned flat rides would be a great touch as well. CP could turn this into the biggest project in the park's history!!!
I think the press release we received is a bit of a 'yawn' but we may get more. I doubt it though.
Trust me NOTHING will happen to DT for at least four more years. Also NOTHING can beat dancing water fountains.;) :) PoppyBro, the area from the rockin ship(name escape me) to the Hotel Breakers is made up of offices, housing, pinic area(catered),and warehouses. To expand the park to the Hotel Breaker it would require Cedar Point to move a lot of things(listed above).

Nothing is gonna happen next year. Just a imporovement hear and there and maybe a flat ride. They spent a HUGE amount of money on the Force, do we really need more?

Coasters- a little slice of heaven
Well I hate to dissappoint you, Mike Schulte, but PKI is going to add another coaster in 2001. It will be an inverted family coaster. As far as Cedar Point, I don't expect them to do very much in 2001, I'm sure Millennium Force cost quite a bit and it wouldn't be very economical to do very much next year. I think they will spend some money doing small jobs that won't cost too much so that they can increase their coaster count again in the near future.
When I was at CP this past summer, a couple of employees/ACE memebers told me a nice CCI would be replacing Disaster Transport. Rumor maybe, but it came on different days from 2 different. You locals keep your ears open.
