I made my first trip to Cedar Point since May of 2000 to close out my coaster riding season. Cedar Point was really crowded. However, lines were moving. Let's move to the highlights.

Wicked Twister: I put this first because this was a new experience for me, being my first impulse. I waited for an hour. Overall, launches for me aren't overly thrilling. That may change with some 100 mph + speeds, hopefully coming soon. I did like the second launch up the back tower, and that got some nice twisting. Overall, I judge this as a decent addition to the park, as it's not big in space, and it is something different.

Millenium Force: With freeway I waited 45 minuted for the front seat. All I can say is wow! This thing is the most intense thing that I've been on. Literally, it made my eyes water afterwards, and it sucked the back of my throat dry. This is incredible. However, as far as airtime goes, I prefer Phantom's Revenge or Apollo's Chariot, but I didn't ride Mille in the back. I waited again at night for two hours for any seat, and it still was amazing. I really liked the lighting. Two trains would stack constantly, but I'm no genius on how to improve this.

Magnum: Still running strong. Waited 15 minutes early in the day. This is still a classic with it's plentiful airtime. Later in the day it had a 45 minute wait

Gemini: Rode this to check out construction. This has a decent first drop, the famous headchopper, and the helix. It is worth noting that later in the day, Gemini actually had a full queue.

Mean Streak: Closed for a good part of the day.

As far as the construction goes, the area is really torn up. That midway is totally changing. There is a connected piece of track on the other side of the tower that is one piece red, one piece white. There are a decent amount of footers, and I was surprised at how close some of them were to Iron Dragon. This is pretty early for this amount of construction, and I must say that I'm expecting it to be big and fast. Judging by the size of the area, I don't think the layout will be too elaborate, but if it goes as high and fast as we've been guessing, I'll be very happy as long as lines aren't insane.

My one problem with the day was at night walking through the haunted frontieer trail. There were just too many people wall to wall. With the smoke, it got hard to see. Also, if someone got overly spooked, they might start to run and start a stampeed. Just something small that I thought was out of control.

This concludes my report, and my season unfortunately. However, what better way to end your season than on Millenium Force. It's been a good year, and I'm looking forward to 2003.

I was at CP on the 12th also.

I agree, The Fright Zone on the Frontier Trail was not as good as it has been on other weekends this year because there were so many people.

Do the Moo Shoo!

I think it's safe to say that this past Saturday may have very well been one of the busiest, if not the busiest day of the entire season.
