Originally the National Register of Historic Places was basically just a list of "hey, these might be nice to keep, if you feel like it." In the '70s they added tax incentives for things like the cost of rehabilitation and keeping the structure in line with its original style/material/purpose. Some historic preservation grants also require a structure to be on the Register to get funding. But yeah, there's nothing preventing the demolition or alteration of a Register building unless there happens to be a local ordinance about it.

If public sector businesses are as badly run as they are in the UK I'd say someone could put a pretty good case together to run the park - if it's getting enough people through the gate.

Nothing to see here. Move along.

The counties lack of advertising and admission changer have driven attendance down to 650,000 form 1 Million.

thing is more of the price changes were good moves and actually made a day cheaper then it was 4 years ago. but they did a piss pore job when talking to the media made it all about the money and locals got pissed off.
