Too sad to hear that :(

I noticed that the National Amusement Park Historical Association (NAPHA) was at the park that day to award them with a plaque on the park's 80th anniversary.

I know I sound like a broken record, but you don't get in the way of energy, including a moving coaster, unless you can positively lock it out to protect yourself. Failure to do this is the second most common cause of worker fatalities and the most common cause for worker fatalities at amusement parks. Hopefully, this won't turn into one of those.
