Cornball Express?
WHAT A STUPID NAME FOR A COASTER?

Anybody know what this name is about? You can close this now if you like. I just had to vent.

I think its really stupid to. It should be something else. It can keep the Express part.

I don't know, it kind of refers to the park's slogan: "Proving once again, there is more than just corn in Indiana" (I think that's what it is/was), therefore, it makes a little sense. But... WHAT ON EARTH IS A CORNBALL? Something referring to corn is fine, and makes plenty of sense, but the word Cornball? Uh-uh! Maybe there is more that I don't know? (I really hope so...) This sounds kind of crazy and I'm sure it's too late, but a bunch of Buzzers oughta submit alternate names, and maybe we could submit them to I.B., but I'm sure they chose that name for a reason and it's also too late...

Cornball Express is a fun name. Remember having fun at amusement parks? Some people still do.

Here is the definition of cornball...

corn·ball (kôrnbôl) Slang
n. One who behaves in a mawkish or unsophisticated manner.
adj. Mawkish or unsophisticated; corny: a kid's cornball humor.

So, as a family coaster, Cornball Express makes sense. It's not a great name, but I'm sure it won't affect CCI's quality.

I guess Indiana Beach just has to be your home park to not mind the name. Yes, Indiana Beach's slogan still is, "There's More Than Corn in Indiana!".

They have Tig'rr, Galaxie, & Hoosier Hurricane. All really great names for roller coasters...maybe it's just Indiana Beach wanted a FUN name for their next coaster. And from the definition, it shows that Indiana Beach at least looked into it before just naming it anything. I think once Indiana Beach gets another new coaster from now on, it will most likely have an Indiana related name (i.e. Hoosier Hurricane & Cornball Express). It's not the most amazing name for the awesome looking coaster, but it is a fun name for a fun coaster. I mean, at least they didn't name it Jr. Hoosier Hurricane. That would have been so much worse.

May 5th, Gurnee, Illinois, "I'm sprinting for V2"

I had a chance to ask this question at No Coaster Con and was told that it was left over from when they built the Hoosier Hurricane. They were going to use the name "Cornball Express" back then but instead saved it in case an occasion would arise at which they could use it. And what do ya know, that's what happened. :)

Whew! I'm glad it is the way now, because the Hurricane really is a good name for the coaster since it's over the water more than Cornball!

I apologize for my bashing of the name. I just don't care for it regardless of the explanation. It doesn't conjure up an image of a coaster that I would enjoy even though I may enjoy it anyways. Just trying to inject a little humor. Regardless I apologize.

Might want to change that last "n" to an "m". ;)

I think Cornball Express is silly and fun, but like Soggy said, isn't that the point? Besides, it's definitely one of the most memorable names, and it won't ever be used again.
