Cool People

What do the ride ops at your park do to rev up the crowd? What about music? Do you have cool DJs in lines that do contests or give out dancing prizes?

Some of the guys on the PMBO make silly coments to get reactions from the crowded line. Once when I was there, they said the ride had broken down due to someone breaking wind on the ride and this caused atmospheric presure, the guy went purple in embarresment but everyone laughed!!:)
On Raging Bull at six flags great america, the ride operator was saying all these facts and then when we all pulled down our restraints he was saying There's no turning back now, Pretty scared aren't ya. And then when the first row was out of the station he said Oh nooooo the restraints broke hold on for your life.
CP does a lot of the same -- line DJs that try to rev up the crowd, elaborated spiels for the ride ops, etc. Back in '89 when I was waiting for Magnum one night, we had a beach ball going through the queue -- that was a blast. We were having so much fun throwing it around (one of those HUGE ones) that we didn't notice that twice the ride broke down for about 20 minutes! It was great to have that kind of a friendly and excited atmosphere.

Oddly enough, I had the best queue experience ever just yesterday at Kennywood, in line for the coaster you'd least expect to be that awesome, Racer.

It happened, somehow, that about 20 people from my high school ended up in the line at the same time, and then ended up getting on the same race. After getting the entire queue extremely hyped up for the upcoming ride, we cheered, jeered, and taunted the opposing train for the whole ride. The best part had to be getting the whole train to chant "Here we go, Green! Here we go!"

We lost, but man... Good times! :)
