Constant V2 Problems

I'm wondering if any of you engineering types can help me understand what the problems are when this ride breaks down. I have now been in line for this ride five times, and three times it has broken down (the two times that it didn't break down the line was only 10 minutes long). When other coasters are down, you tend to see a problem, such as a car getting stuck on a lift hill. Not the case here. The thing appears to be running fine, and then it just ceases operation.

I'll bet it has somthing to do with the LIM's...

If you watch Extreme Rides 2001 they did a whole thing on S:UE. These rides are very much comp. controlled. There are just rows and rows of comp. Also, the LIM's are very complicated, I am sure the bugs are just being worked out.

Whenever S:UE breaks down alot of times there is a red button that goes on. It is near the screen on the control panel. When the button goes on there is some kind of problem and it will not let you start the ride. I have seen this happen many times, but mantinence will take care of it.

One other thing is that when coasters get "stuck" on the lift it is something like this, something goes wrong, or there is a problem where the comp. is not gettin the info. it needs so it auto-matically shuts down the ride, stopping it on the lift. Same problems just diff. results.

LIM coasters always have the most problems is their firs year of operation. The Chiller only operated 3 days in '97 and then opened fully in '98 because the LIM magnets were cracking because they were in bad casing. Rain was also shorting them out from the casing...it wasn't waterproof. They had to get whole new LIM's and new casing. Volcano wasn't able to get enough speed, so it was down a lot in it's firt year, and they also had to take half of the seats off the trains in order for the trains to be able to get up and out of the mountain! LIM's are very complicated and are just like every other rollercoaster. All rollercoasters have to break in and get the kinks out. Don't worry...by the end of the season, it will be running fine!
