They were putting the 2nd car on the tumble bug today, suppose to be open on the 8th,they are holding a auction for the first rides.
Blue Streak was running the Vettel train.Looked like there was some work done on the turnaround this year,a bunch of new track wood, not as much shuffling as in the past.
Talked to one of the ride op's,lightning did hit the lift motor,he said it was $5000 to repair.
The only ride that was not running besides bug was the toboggon.
Auctioning first rides on The Bug sounds like a great idea.

Done the toboggon before,agree,OUCH!
Just wish they could turn that trim brake off before the turnaround on the Blue Streak, kills the last half of the ride.I know they can't because of the same problem they have with the NAD trains, maintenance.
Rode it years ago with the NAD's and no trim brake, much more "air" on the last half of the ride. *** Edited 7/5/2006 3:10:08 PM UTC by Ex_Westview and KW_worker***
I was just wondering, we might be making a trip there this weekend.
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
If you are ever up in the area of Conneaut, check out a place nearby, its called Linesville. You can feed the HUGH fish they have in the spillway there. There are so many of them that their motto is"where the ducks walk on the fish".Be sure to buy the "fish bread" at stands on the way there.
And the birds DO walk on the fish. I didn't believe it until i saw it.

As of last weekend it was still closed.
It was nice to get a ride on the Tumble Bug again and Blue Streak is running well despite a small fire that erupted on the brakes after the turnaround early Saturday morning(7/8/06). We watched them walk the structure and put it out with an extinguisher. It was pretty scary to see and also disappointing since we thought we wouldn't get to ride it that day. They opened it at noon with everything else. Great air in the back seat. Good enough to cause the girlfriend to lose the brand new digital camera. :(
We also witnessed the sign being put up on the front of the structure by the road for Blue Streak. We'd have pictures, but again, she lost the camera. If anyone finds it, there are pictures of the opening of the Tumble Bug, Blue Streak's fire, the sign going up on the front of Blue Streak and also a few nice pics while on the coaster.

^The Linesville Spillway is awesome. Largest fish i've ever seen. We always hit that place.
Those fish are monsters. And the birds DO walk on the fish. I didn't believe it until i saw it.
They are big!
That would be a good stunt for fear factor, lower someone into all the fish and see how long they could take it :)
I think those fish got enough bread in them to last a year.
Did they ever fix Conneaut's Yo-Yo... and am I half crazy, or did the Yo-Yo's actually either swing out and back or dip up and down during the ride cycle? Geauga Lake's is just a straight swing ride. Or am I just losing it due to age? Heh heh.
The Yo-Yo was sold last winter, but I don't know where it went or if it was just sold as scrap. It was in pretty bad shape and repairs to the ride would've cost the park more than it was worth. Even though I would've loved to see the Yo-Yo back I'm glad they concentrated on repairing the Train & Tumble Bug instead. If they can get the Toboggan repaired before something else breaks down it will be the first time in at least 4 years that the park will have every ride running at the same time.....but this IS Conneaut's luck we're talking about here so it's a safe bet that something WILL break down.....

I went to that spillway for the first time this year, those fish are insane! Kind of funny watching all those fish fight over food.
Deer Park is anther must visit up in that area. Only place I know where you can feed the monkeys, and pet dear, baby camels, and so forth.

Conneaut was REALLY cool. IF the Toboggan is running, I'll likely make it there in August (I'll call before making the out-of-the-way drive). Plus, I'd LOVE to catch the Bug...;)
