Oh yeah, I remember that ride. I think it was called crazy mouse, but don't mark me on that. I do remember that there was no restraints on the ride and it was like bench seating, like a log flume. I was very small at the time so it was very fast and scary. I also recall the ride stopping and then dropping in the station. I was fun from what I remember.

Is the hell hole still there?

No they took out the Hell Hole a while ago. I heard that the floor came up before it was supposed to...

The "Wild Mouse" as it was called was nuts for a 5 year old girl at the time, there were to restraints u just held on for dear life, lots of jerky stops. That pic is an old one... I remember jumping in that bounce... Does anyone know anything about an accident that supposedly made CLP tear out the crazy mouse? I remember watching the news a LONG time ago (ok not THAT long) and remember them reporting that someone jumped out of the ride because he thought the car would fly off the track. I was then told by someone else that the car flew off of the track (which I find reluctant to believe). Anyone help me out?

Isn't that then whole point of a wild mouse?

Here is the skinny on the "Wild Mouse" It was posted for sale for $1000 in October of 1990. No takers. However, in Spring of 1991, when I started there, and beloved coaster lover whose name I forget showed up with a cashiers check or some other sort of legal tender valued at $1500, and it was his. Period. It is now in the Erie Pa. area in storage.

The ride never killed, derailed, fell off, or what have you. It was a good ride, and with a wood structure AND a wood track, it required a good deal of work just to open every day. And unlike the awesome Blue Streak, it could not carry 1100 riders and hour, therefore its expenses overcame the revenue. Financially, it made better sense to remove a coaster and expand Otter Creek Beach.

Should Conneaut Lake have a backup to the Blue Streak? Yes. A family coaster? Yes. That mouse? No. Something a little more worker friendly, but still has some excitement.
I remember the Wild Mouse being dismantled... actually, I think I have a video I purchased because of an ad in Ace News that showed the ride being dismantled (it has been a long time since I watched the video, it would probably take me a few hours to find it)!

If CLP is looking for a "family" coaster to complement the Blue Streak (and effectively replace the old Wild Mouse), I think a Crazy Mouse would be perfect. IMO, those spinning mice are so much more fun than any of the other "standard" mice I have ridden... they are ideal for families and enthusiasts!
And to think, at that point in my life I was scared to death of the "really big" Blue Streak and hated coasters in general (of course I was just little). Once on that thing was more than enough for me..
