Huh... is this online? I don't think I get MSDN Mag anymore, even after they were threatening the end of the subscription after like three years. Which issue and what section was it in? I guess those cats will print anything.

MSDN Magazine is the dead tree branch of the Microsoft Developer Network.

I have the print copy of it. Feb 2004. They have a weblink on the cover of http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag

I once had to sit for a couple of hours in my Las Vegas hotel room finishing up a component for a tight deadline at work. That sucked.

Doing anything remotely related to work while you're in Sin City is just wrong.

How about spending six months going to central Florida on and off on business and not having time to hit any of the wonderful parks down there.

It really sucked sitting in my hotel room at night writing code and not driving a few miles to go to Busch Gardens or hoping on I4 to hit the Orlando parks...

Certain victory.

Kick The Sky,

You win! :) That must've been close to hell on earth. The Mouse, USF, & Busch Gardens all nearby...

Still wondering why ASP is used, but that's just me :)

/me loves his open source Apache/mod_perl servers.

No one uses ASP anymore. Now they use ASP .Net, which despite the name, have very nearly nothing in common. You have to use it to know.

I couldn't imagine using Perl for anything more than a souped up shell script, but that's just me. I'm theoretically a Java programmer (JOnAS/Apache Tomcat), but ASP.net really is a lot easier.
Perl is incredibly powerful for postprocessing huge log files and the like, but there are certainly better tools for serving web pages.

Then again, my homepage is all PHP and MySQL, so what do I know? ;)

Pshaw, perl is very, very good for serving web pages too, especially as mod_perl. It does a hell of a job on large scale websites.

Give me a nice mod_perl installation with Template Toolkit and I'm a happy camper. Nonetheless, I wasn't aware that there was a major difference between ASP and ASP .Net, but either way, I probably won't be using either of them any time soon. Still, congrats on the mention in MSDN!

Been in .NET for about a month and a half now. VERY steep learning curve if you're used to classic ASP. But, I like what I see. I especially like the fact that it can all be compiled...

Anyway.

The next version you can compile an entire site and move one file... wow.

Just opened a new site, by the way... http://www.uberasp.net/
