Less than three months after opening its gate, Luna Park is getting ready to celebrate a major milestone. The amusement park will celebrate its one millionth ride Friday and to mark the occasion the seaside destination will hold the First Annual Lunatic Day.

That's fanastic! Looks like that park has become a success with the remake :)

Maybe NOW the "powers that be" will take notice and re-zone that area to be entirely an amusement park zone! This is a testament that people want to have a park in that location. It's history is utterly significant to New Yorkers and many others. It is an alternative to Rye Playland, Six Flags Great Adventure, Dorney park, Hershey park & Knobels.

Agreed. I hope that they will do that Rezoning. No doubt.

That place is still shady as hell. I was there two weeks ago and had a carny threaten to stab me if I didn't play his game. Hopefully Zamperla will clean things up in the coming year.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
I'm sorry that happened to you - I'm guessing that you were on Jones Walk when that happened, it's pretty much the only place that it still will. Did you tell the police?
And while I realize that Jones Walk can be nasty - I wouldn't call out all of Coney 'shady as hell'. There are plenty of good operators other than Zamperla.
Had I seen any cops anywhere around there, I probably would have. It was kind of a long alley area with a bunch of shacks on both sides housing games mostly. In retrospect, it's an area we probably should have avoided based solely on how it looked.

That would be Jones Walk...it's just the Russians on the south side of that strip that are problematic. They are a constant problem. Again sorry you had to experience that.
It is sad that the game operator had to resort to threats, but you have to admit, in hindsight, it's kind of funny.
"HEY YOU! come here - come here... Listen carefully; I'ma only going to say this once. If you don't play my game, I'ma gonna stab you."
I could see this happen on The Simpsons, or even South Park.
