Coney Island Tornado aerial pics?

I was just looking for some overhead pictures of the Tornado at Coney Island but didn't have much luck. I searced a few place online and came up with squat. I even looked thru the Harry Traver book ACE put out a while ago but still didn't come up with anything.

Any good sites or books I'm missing? Thanks in advance.

Coasterpunk,

Firstly I wish you the best of luck - I've been looking for a good aerial of that and the Thunderbolt for some time. Here is a link to Bob Orlowsky's web page dedicated to Fred Church which has a few outstanding Tornado pix:

If you can find the Robert Cartmel book - there is a great picture looking back at the rest of the ride from the top of the lift hill, and of course the Traver book has the tragic demolition photos.

Keep in mind that the Tornado is believed by almost all sources to be a Fred Church design and that Traver has little or nothing to do with it.

Best,

My father actually has an aerial photo of all of Coney Island from Steeplechase to the Cyclone.

Both the Thunderbolt and the Tornado are visible with great clarity, but the picture is abot 5 times larger than my scanner and I am not able to pinpoint the 2 rides. Sorry.

Jimvid- Traver had nothing to do with the building he influenced the ride more than anything. *** Edited 2/2/2004 10:24:04 PM UTC by Coasterfreak2***

I wanted an overhead pic to just see the layout and how the brakerun, station, and runout to the lift were set up since all of that was basicly in a building like the Giant Dipper in Santa Cruz.
