Coney Island or SFA?

I spent a few hours at Coney during my one visit (actually, it was my second visit, but nothing was open the first time due to weather). I'm not much of a flat ride junkie, but I enjoyed a few rides on the Cyclone, one ride on each of the kiddie coasters and one ride on the Wonder Wheel (the mobile cars, of course!). After reading what Moosh said about the Zipper, I'm now kicking myself for not riding it (although it may have been down that day, I can't remember). And I wouldn't have felt right without stopping in Nathan's for a dog. I really like the place, and I agree with Gonchar about the feeling you get while trying to soak in all the history. It's similar (to a much lesser degree) to the feeling I got while touring some of the castles in England.

I was sorry to see the Jumbo Jet not operating (I think it had been SBNO for less than a week). Apparently it's been in China for the last year...anyone know if anything has physically taken its place?

There was a Top Spin in front of the old Jumbo Jet spot last summer but it's since moved to Astroland. My sources indicate a coaster will replace the Jumbo Jet next year.
Yeah, an SLC (nervous twitch)

Fate is the path of least resistance.

No way, not on that site.
I chose SFA based on the fact that it is close to where I will be staying and I will be able to ride several new to me coaster types. I have never ridden a hyper coaster nor have I ridden anything built by GCI. I would like to go to Coney Island,Knoebels, and Hershey some day,but I will not be able to do it on this trip.

Lets' bring back Portland,Oregons' Jantzen Beach Big Dipper(1928-1970)Oregon needs some good wood!

And none of those parks are going anywhere, Ron. Visit them when you have more time.

Enjoy your day at SFA. I have a feeling you're going to love your Intamin hyper exeperience... ;)

Has the parachutes ride at Coney been fully restored yet? I know they've been working on it a good while.

I survived a Japanese typhoon and the Togo flat ride of death!!!!!!

It's assembled...not sure if the rehab is completely done. Even if it is, don't expect to see it operational anytime soon.
Thanks Moosh. I love it when Preservationists and Realists walk hand in hand ;-).

Here's hoping they can get it operating soon. *** Edited 4/18/2004 8:42:18 PM UTC by thrillerman1***

I'd love to see it operate and IIRC it's something that's being looked into. Perhaps I'm wrong and it will be operating soon.
