Coney Island ?

hello, everyone, this is my first post on the coaster buzz forum. as such i request a bit of help from anyone who knows. I am planning a trip to NYC and i want to be able to ride the legendary cyclone while i'm there. the problem is that the astroland website doesn't say when the park officially opens for the season. maybe the exact date has been pinned down by the park yet, but does anyone know roughly when the park opens?
does it usually open in early may for weekends or does it open later than that? any info would truly be appreciated. thanx. and hello again to all you coasterbuzzers.
Welcome to the fold sharptent! Coney Island will be open on April 8, 2001. For more info you can call 718 265 2100. That's for general info. Hope that helps

When you go to CI be sure to ride the Wonder Wheel in the "Swinging" cars. Thats another great ride. Be ready to spend a few bucks on rides because it has carnival prices.
CI is made up of 3 different parks so if you buy a wristband make sure it's for Astroland since thats the home of the Cyclone.

I was just there last Saturday. Cold, but Nathan's was open and packed. Do not miss lunch there. Spend time at the independent midway, then see why it has the reputation now. Astroland is okay, just buy a pop like that was mentioned earlier. I was there a few seasons ago, and it was about $12.95, and it included like 4 rides on the Cyclone. Worth it with the grease on my shorts and cut knees.

Wonder Wheel park is cool, they have a dark ride that is mostly outdoors(?), and that ferris wheel, well, just get the cars that swing in and out. Leave the area buy sundown. You will know why.
I was a bit nervous trying to get out of Brooklyn when we left CI around 10 - 10:30 at night. I'm still alive and kicking. ;)

Jeez People, Brooklyn is not that bad!!
Don't forget to gaze over at the former location of the Thunderbolt. Now in that great Amusement Park in the sky.
Well, there is a beautiful baseball stadium there. Could be a lot worse.
