Concerts At Darien Lake

Hey everyone im sitting here right now debating if I should purchase Ozzfest tickets for Darien Lake. What I was wondering is what are the crowds like in the park while there is a concert? I know that you can't say what the crouds will be on any given day, I was just wondering if any of you who may have attended the park during a concert found it to be any more crouded then any normal day. Venue was the other thing I was wondering about, is it a decent place to see a show? Thanks in advance, any of your help or comments will be greatly appreciated.

This is the first day of my last day's. "nine inch nails"

If you just want to see the concert, go ahead and buy the tickets. It is a nice place to see a show.

As far as the park will be packed. These events attract people to the park more than the coasters.

I think I read a TR from a concert day and there was a 2 hour wait for Superman, 1 hour for Mind Eraser and Boomerang, and 45 minutes for Predator and Viper.

Those may not seem THAT bad but most people don't enjoy waiting an hour for a Vekoma.

The wait for Predator will be painful, even with decent ride ops this year+2 train operation, the seatbelt process takes forever.

A really good idea would be to go to the park on that night to see the show and then go to the park the next day. I was there a week ago, on a Friday, and the line for Superman was long with 1 train op, but it wasn't even out of the station.

Hope this helps!

the park has been empty all year, however during the tom petty concert (which was sold out and happened to fall on a saturday, skewing results) the park was absolutly packed just from what i saw on the outside. The waterpark was full to the brim and it looks like chaos all around. i guess a lot of people take advantage of the $8.00 tickets (we opted out because it was fricken HOT that day and we both know there were better parks around). Lines previous years were always absolutly crazy and you probably wouldnt get on more than 3 or 4 major rides.

For the concert itself, be sure to go really early the lineup of cars will almost go all the way back to the thruway (about 5 miles away), even an hour and a half before showtime.

I reccomend downloading an overhead map and taking the backroads to save yourself an hour of waiting -- find your way from the thruway over to the road (sumner?) that the employee entrace comes off of.

Good luck,

have you been to the park this year?....the attendance is WAY up frpm the past 2 years, thedy're averaging 17,000 on Saturday and Sunday's and about 10,500 on weekdays. The Tom Petty show had 28,000 people in the park alone. The venue holds 22,000 but account all the GP that still come to the park. Ozzfest has sold about 16,000 tickets so expect a pretty busy park. Dave Matthews and Coldplay are also both close to sold out this year so expect crazy lines those days.
Dairen is one of the best venues ever for a concert. I saw Phish twice, Trey Anastasio, Greatful Dead and a few others and i have never had a bad time. Security was lax and the crowds were nice.

I only went into the park once on the day of a show, I rode predator with the Spin Doctors in 1993, It was crowded though.

the place cant be very busy...ive gone by on the weekend and havent seen cars past the parkinglot lake.
NOT to mention that i was there on a holiday weekend in may and nobody was there and everything was practicaly a walk on. so to say that the place has been jumping and busy ...mabie on a concert day yea, but no way on a normal day is that place hoppen
