Compatibility Probs w/ Win XP

Roller Coaster Tycoon is not compatible with XP. I was wondering if any of you knew of a patch for Win 2000 or XP.

Yep, install the official Win2K patch and you'll be fine.

Note that you'll probably experience problems in full-screen mode, and gameplay will be generally slower and choppier if you have a reasonably slow computer.

Isn't compatible? I was just playing RCT a half hour ago, and as far as I know, all new HP computers come preloaded with Windows XP Home Edition, do they not? If your patch isn't working, you must have been using trainers before switching to XP, because I've had the problem of the game not working in Win98SE after using trainers all the time.

I use trainers, have LL, and have no problems on WinXP Pro.

I must live under a rock because I've never heard of this Windows XP! I think I'll just stick with Windows 98.

Windows XP is about 10 times as stable as 98. With 98, I needed to reboot at least once every couple days or so, or the system would slow down. I'd get random lockups from time to time too. Nothing too bad, and definitely livable, but there have been times that I've run XP for 3 weeks straight, without a single reboot. Usually I don't make it that long since I need to reboot for software, or because I'm just shutting down the machine for the night, but not because of crashes or slowdown. I've been running XP since the end of July, so I have a lot of experience with it, and I have it on a dual boot with Win98. I haven't booted into 98 in over 2 months.

Where can I find the official Windows XP patch? I have search all over and haven't been able to find it. Thanks in advance!

Go to the Rollercoaster Tycoon website (www.rollercoastertycoon.com) and download the patch marked version 1.23 . This patch should fix the Win XP/Win2000 problems. Hope that helps.

I went to the roller coaster tycoon web page and there is no patch marked 1.23. The latest version shown is 1.20.013. Is there something I am missing? Or could someone e-mail the patch to me?
