Thorpe Park's Colossus, a ten-inversion Intamin looper, had opened to the public, setting the record for most inversions.

thats awesome! looks like there might be some good airtime after that first loop too :-)

there is no air time after the loop! i thought there would be, but there isnt. there is some good hangtime on some of the inlines though!
I bet there is alot of "hangtime" in the near by pathways as well. Boy that ride looks dizzying. I bet it's loads of fun though.

Have you ever considered that maybe it's not the park that's the problem, but YOU?

Well, I went on this coaster on its Premier Screaming event, and I have to say I was very impressed.
The Drop is quite a good one, and its strange but when you see it up close for the first time, You would think its a tame drop, but dont let that put you off, it really delivers some good pace into the vertical loop. The Bunny Hop after the loop is excellent, if you have your harness loose, you can get a great bit of small airtime. The Cobra Roll is just as impressive, Very Big and Good G-Forces coming out of it. As for the inlines, I actually liked them, they are taken at just the perfect amount of speed to not make you feel sick and they are quite unique, every inline also delivers a small bit of hangtime.

I was definatly very impressed with the coaster as a whole, and the inlines make it such a unique experience, and its certaintly different, Its also a very smooth coaster throughout the whole ride, even through the inlines(Impressive for a 10 looping coaster) how long this will last though is anyone's guess, The trains are also very comfortbale, and the restraints are just as good. I should also mention on the premier screaming event, Colossus was flying round that track, and seemed to go faster and faster the later it became during the day, so the ride experience just got better and better with each ride.

Also DWeaver, the ride is not too dizzying, I took 5 rides on it during the day, and did not come off, even feeling a little bit dizzy. Its all just Perfect. The General Public also seemed to love Colossus, Everyone came off smiling, and wanting more, and saying how such a good ride experience it was, Of course I was worried as to how the General Public would actually react to the coaster, but from what I saw, Colossus is definatly going to be a Big Hit this year for sure. This is also what England desperatly needed(A Good Multi Looper) and I'm so glad Thorpe have delivered one to us.
Also with Colossus this year and a B&M Inverted Next year for 2003(Its definatly 200% confirmed now BTW) Thorpe is finally being put on the map as a major thrill park and is finally getting rid of its Family Image and handing that honour over to Chessington instead.

They kinda cheated to get this record. Well, technically not cheated, but if anybody wants a record bad enough for most inversions, sure we'll just slap 5 inlines in it to beat the record.

Im not complaining, but arent the 5 inlines in a row kinda boring?

At least I dont call a vertical loop a "loopdie-loop"!

I can not wait to Ride this during the European Coaster Odyssey in July!

What goes up Must Come Down, Lets hope it comes down really fast! Unfortunatly Vertigo came down too fast!

Looking at the way colossus is is set up, I would think the inline stretch would be a sweet ride.

Planned Parks for this summer: SFoGa, CP, SFWoA, SFGAm, SFKK, PKI, MA, SFStL, HW, KW. Is 10 enough?
Cornerstone Festival 2002... I will be there

There are four in-lines in a row - the fifth is after a turnaround. They certainly aren't boring, however by the last one I was glad it WAS the last one, if you see what I mean. I also felt dizzy immediately after them, and could only manage two or three consecutive rides before I needed a breather for a few minutes - I challenge anyone to sit on it for any length of time and not feel ill!
