Colossus Backwards at Magic Mountain!

Why doesn't MM just leave one side of Colossus backwards? They finally made it a permanent fixture for American Eagle.

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

They used to run it permanently when they had the PTC trains. They stopped when they swirched to Morgans quite a few years back.

And yes, follow Disney's lead and bring back the goodies!

Chi....gonna take a WAG on this one and say that permanent backwards operation on Colossus would *eventually* become a liability issue...esp. since those Morgan and B&M trains track like $#lt...;)

Tragic Mountain, do yourselves a favor and call 1-800-Tom-Rebbie for some info on good wooden coaster trains...:)

I was just being a smart@ss, Soggy. I don't find Colossus all that rough either.

You mean, when you ride Colossus and then Psychlone right one after another, Colossus doesn't seem so rough anymore?
:)

Psychlone backwards - you'd have to have a nurse on duty or a transport service to the Santa Clarita Community Hospital.
Or has it gotten better since I last rode it (forwards)?

For the record, starting a thread for the purpose of plugging your site is promotion. I didn't see it because I didn't read the thread (because I don't care about Colossus ;)). However, it has gone this long and there's a hint of discussion there, so I'll let it go.

Speaking of backwards at SFMM...didnt they try running both Viper and Psyclone backwards in the early 90's? Or is it my imagination?

I personally like Colossus better backwards. More comfortable trains that provide a more forceful ride in the back. It felt like I was gonna be flung out the train!

Neither Viper nor Psyclone have every run backwards.

In order to run Psyclone backwards they'd have to use the Morgans from Colossus. Why? The same reason they use Psyclone's B&Ms for Colossus backwards: the brake fins are off-center -- on opposite sides -- on both coasters. So the Morgans can't run backwards on Colossus and the B&MS can't run backwards on Psyclone, hence the switch.

I swear I saw one of those HBO subscription specials they used to show from the park and it had the host riding Psyclone backwards...ah well.

Its bad enough forwards...I can't begin to imagine the horrible pain riding Psyclone backwards.

Of course I have been known to be wrong [Hydra pre-lift inversion, anyone?] so maybe my So Cal brothers and sisters can back me up here?

I dont think its that bad...I mean bad is a relative term afterall...LOL

My best ride on Psyclone was back in 1997 right after a day of non-stop rain. It was running fast and not so rough.

I cant say that for the other times I have been on it however.

I have no memory of Viper or Psyclone running backwards or being advertised as running backwards. I'm just a transplant since 1983 though. ;)

I've yet to have a painful Psyclone ride, boring maybe but painful? Just lucky or insensitive I guess.

webkris Nitro vs. MF it should be MG vs. Nitro since there the airtime non loopers. Anyways Viper backwards that would not hurt that would be a nightmare!
