Colossus at Terra Mitaca - Son of Jackrabbit?

I haven't heard one word about this incredible-looking woodie on this board.

In case you haven't heard of it, it is built on the side of a cliff wall, and has a massive double-dip for a first drop: http://www.rcdb.com/installationgallery1081.htm?Picture=5

Has anyone ridden it?

He let the contents of the bottle do the thinking; can't shake the devil's hand and say you're only kidding.

I haven't ridden it, but all I've heard is that its very rough. Of course, half of the coasters out there I've heard called "very rough" at one point or another so I would take that with a healthy pinch of salt.

-----------------
If the shoe fits, find another one.

I am betting that it rides alot better than the Rattler.

I'm sure it's good. It's a Werner Stengel creation!

-----------------
It's his turn to feast, when you ride the Son of Beast.

Just because Stengel designed the layout doesn't mean it's a good ride. I'm sure the layout is killer, but implimented poorly. (I've heard it's terribly rough)

Peabody got it.....Exactly! Look at Son of Beast... my least-favorite woodie of all time. That is a Stengel creation! Just because a famous/well known designer has many smooth rides doesnt mean that every ride will be as smooth as the others. Batman: Dark Knight is another example. The ride has a brilliant layout, but has got abit of headbanging.

As for this ride, that double down looks insane! Talk about airtime! Totally brilliant layout too. One of these days... one of these days...

I know Werner Stengel does have a some headbanger but I truely believe he is the greatest designer of all times. This is just my opinion. All of the coasters he has designed, I have LOVED! I also know that the coasters I haven't ridden of his are just as good. Son of Beast is one of my 4 top woodies! The ride would be 400% better with different trains. The ones right now are just crap! With the ones now, you just gotta know where to sit.

I also never said in my statement before that it would be smooth. I don't consider SoB to be a "smooth" coaster. Which I am thankful that it's not. I believe that steel coasters should be smooth and graceful. Like Millennium Force. Then I believe that woodies should be wild and out of control, I wanna get beat up! Like Son of Beast.

Different people have different concepts of what coaster should be like. I'm sure if I'd ride this creation of his, it'd be in my top 10.

AMEN BRO!

If they’re running, I’ll get ‘em. If they’re not, they should be.

I agree with you PKI fanatic. The layout looks phenominal. Too bad layout is only one part of making a good ride. If you pair a layout by someone like Stengle with a good builder, good trains, and good maintenance you have a winner!

looks bloody fun...i sho wish SFGAm would get something like that, but then again it's all flat by us...so i guess i'll to settle for a 4d in place of demon and whizzer...o well

SFGAM doesn't need it they have Viper.

Very Very Yummy

Does CCI know how to make a bad coaster?

Magnus Colossus is a 4 party coaster! Dennis Starkey did designing, Werner Stengel number crunching, etc. RCCA build the ride. Intamin supplies 2 trains, magnetic brakes and ride system.

The thing is, the trains used to track like and had the comfort level of... bathtubs. No wonder Warner Brothers Movie World Germany threw the towel on these trains after a single season! Instead, they went and bought 2 Premier wooden trains, which gives a whole lot better ride.

Terra Mitica basically rebuild the Intamin trains from scratch (50-60% of the trains are brand new!) this winter, so now, the ride doesn't beat you up from one side of Spain to the other, like the older trains did...

Throw a bathtub on it. That makes it sound even better. ;) That is an ingenious layout. Does anyone know approximately how much airtime you get on the double-down? Or maybe an airtime comparison with another woddie in the US? Also, has anyone seen my passport? I can't seem to find it and suddenly feel that I need it!

Aren't they getting King Cobra from PKI?

Well if it wasn't so rough then i would feel the airtime but nope, the roughness is just too much!

Terra Mitica has actually announced that they'll get a Vekoma SLC and it's not the regular clone. The coaster will open for the next season.

Vekoma will open 14 coasters next year, sounds pretty exciting to me :)

I find it hard to believe that thing could be rougher than Rattler. If it's fun than I could deal with some roughness but Rattler was rough and boring.

Well what i know Rattler was built by the same company as with Magnus Colossus...

I really hope they've changed the train like what Absimilliard said, i really do.
