Pretty much every big park has some sort of drink deal with souvenir cups and free/stupid-cheap refills. And there's stuff like this: Cedar Point Ride & Refresh

If you're paying over a dollar or two per drink over the course of a day, you're doing it wrong.

True, but then you have to carry that flippin cup all day, and in some cases pay locker fees for it. At least Holiday World got it right.

When we were at CP the weekend after Labor Day they had the 24oz Snoopy and Woodstock souvenirs BOGO with free refills. So for being there two days, family of 4, we paid a total of $9 + tax for pop.

Probably refilled them 4 times each per day, so that works out to about 50 cents per serving.

Can anyone actually taste the difference between what name is printed on the bag of syrup?

I licked the names on both bags of syrup and they both tasted like plastic. :P

In all seriousness, yes, I can absolutely taste the difference, but I don't have a strong preference either way.

Only, as this thread implies, most people aren't going to hit four or five sodas in a day. It's rare that I ever buy more than one, maybe two, in a day. And even in those cases, it tends to be Disney or Universal, and it's under three bucks anyway.

There's a big difference if your a Mt. Dew drinker (me)

That being said, I do taste a difference between Coke and Pepsi. Though, I will drink either, I prefer Pepsi. Coke is too acidic to me. It gives me acid reflux.

^I completely disagree. I don't think most enthusiasts drink a lot of non-water products at parks, but the average family who already drinks tons of soda a day at home? I wonder if 4 or 5 is too small a number.

Ooooh, really? I don't know. I don't think that's unreasonable at all.

Either way, the point remains - if you're paying $3 or more (what seems to have been deemed the 'reasonable' price in this thread), you're doing something wrong. You can easily score drinks for less than that.

The taste between Coke and Pepsi is totally different. Hell, I can tell the difference between Coke, Diet Coke and Coke Zero.

I've been susceptible to attacks of gallstones and kidney stones. I did some reading about those ailments many years ago, and found out this tidbit:

Phosphoric acid can be a major contributor to the formation of stones. Citric acid can help neutralize the phosphoric. Both Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi have phosphoric acid, but Diet Pepsi also has citric acid. This was years ago, but I assume the sodas still have that distinction between one another. Other than the fact I like Diet Pepsi better and it doesn't upset my stomach the way Diet Coke does, the acid factor is a major reason I choose Diet Pepsi. However, Pepsi Max has left them both behind for me...it's diet, but tastes VERY similar to regular Pepsi. Some years ago, Diet RC (as opposed to Diet-Rite, which is the same company) was available. I haven't seen the Diet RC in eons, though.

The new hockey arena in Pgh pours RC products. Had a Diet RC last time I was there and was surprised how much I liked it.

I can too, I pretty much only drink Mexican Coke if I drink a cola. But I wonder if I could tell the difference between Cedar Fair's version of Coke or Pepsi. At an amusement park I am pretty much just expecting "cola" or "orange" when I buy from a fountain. My bar is very low.

The Coke at Kings Island is very good, and somehow tastes different then coke at McDonald's.

I prefer Coke over Pepsi Caffeine free versions), but either one is good. My drink of choice right now is Cherry Diet Rite Pure Zero, which is an RC product. I can't have any caffeine or else my vertigo goes crazy and I can't move my head until it passes, sometimes lasting up to three weeks.

I can't imagine anyone not being able to tell the difference between Pepsi and Coke. But then maybe not everyone's a recovering addict...
My tastes have changed over the years, I used to love bottled Coke, but anymore I prefer Pepsi. Now, the fountain Coke is usually better to me, always, unless it's that from McDonald's. I've been going to McDonald's since the first one opened in Dayton Ohio in 1961, and I can smell a McDonald's Coke a mile away. I guess it speaks to their consistency, but it's got a distinct taste and is always the same no matter where I go. Ick.
Funny about the digestion thing. When I was a kid mothers kept a small bottle of Coca Cola syrup in the medicine cabinet to give when someone had an upset stomach. You got it at the pharmacy, and for all I know you still can. It was actually considered therapeutic.
Italian food and alcohol give me the refux.
I don't care which Cedar Fair serves, I'll be having one or two regardless.

You have an acute sense of smell. The only thing I can smell a mile away is a select Single Rider on a breezy day.

I'm a lifetime sodaholic, and there is a HUGE difference Coke and Pepsi, whether regular or diet.

Even though I drink way too much soda, I rarely buy more than one or two when I am at CP, KI, or any other park that charges way too much anyway. It depends, though. If it's really hot I prefer water over soda.

I prefer Coke over Pepsi, but Pepsi is fine. I am not fussy. I drink enough Pepsi products at Holiday World to pay for a Holiwood Nights trip and then some. ;-)I've been drinking a lot of Cherry Coke Zero and Sprite Zero here lately. They are better than Diet Coke/Sprite.

I am also on a huge Sierra Mist Cranberry Splash kick as well. Too bad it's a seasonal soda! The only sodas I dislike are the generic, store-brand ones as they tend to taste disgusting. BigK makes a decent sweet tea, though.
